1) Rude has an empty piercing on his earlobe

2) Note the silver earring on Rude's upper lobe

3) Now note the exact kind of silver earring on Reno's lobe.

So our theory stands that Rude gave his lower lobe piercing to Reno. Maybe Reno being a magpie was very intrigued by Rude’s many piercings and I HC that Rude did his piercing for him but he probably cried or something and never wanted piercings ever again so this was their wedding ring exchange ^_^

On page 103, the FF7 Remake Ultimania book says of Rude and Reno:

In Chapter 12, right before Reno jumps out of the helicopter onto the Sector 7 pillar, Rude tosses him the electrostatic rod and we get a close-up of the Shinra logo on the grip. This scene reveals a glimpse of the strong bond between the partners, as well as the Turks' shared sense of responsibility and their determination to get the job done.

You know what that is? That's drift compatibility, baby! Rude and Reno could pilot a Jaeger together!
