Chin tapped by a thumb-claw in thought, the jackal deliberating upon which to dwell upon. He had many (regular) lifetimes’ worth  of memories.

“One that comes to mind is ironically one from a time thrice buried, whilst my brother an I were still getting used to our bodies once again. We were always fond of swimming, and took what chances we could when they presented themselves.

My brother got the idea in his head when our path one day approached a riverbank. He realized that neither of us had the opportunity to try it since the day we Ascended. So he did something typically him, wrapped his arm around my waist and threw me a good twenty yards into its center.

I sank like a stone, my body too heavy to actually be bouyant in the slightest, and he dove in shortly after, fearing he drowned me. The look on his face, with me standing there on the riverbed cross-armed, was priceless. It makes sense that he’d be more capable in the water, with the form he was granted, though.“

Hand moved to scratch the back of his neck, turning head slightly and coughing. Embarrassment.

“Soothing the nerves of the nearby fishermen was significantly less enjoyable though, they were genuinely worried that they’d get caught up in a fight between gods.”
