Rumiko week : most relatable characters Okay, personally I see myself in a lot of characters but never condensed into one, and unlike many people I don’t see myself much in Ryoga Hibiki, eternally lost unlucky boy, however I can’t deny the fact that so many people do. Both Godai and Ryoga have that unlucky charm about them which makes them extremely loveable to readers. Specially Ryoga in the case of teenagers feeling like ‘lol why am I an unlucky shit’ and Godai appealing to young adults feeling like ‘lol why am I an unlucky shit who has 0 idea what to do in life and why do I fail at things sometimes’
Rumiko Week Day 8: Favorite Series
↪ Toward Tomorrow
My favorite series is definitely Inuyasha. I don’t know what I would be like if I hadn’t discovered this series and I’m so grateful that Rumiko Takahashi created it.
@rumikoweek , End: Favorite Series.
Something a little different today, it's a bit long, but it's just me gushing about how much I love the series, how much I love running this blog, and how much I love the people who have accepted me into the community.
Rumiko Week - August 24th: Favourite Series - Urusei Yatsura
The funny thing is that Urusei Yatsura isn’t my first introduction to Rumiko Takahashi. Like many other people of my age, that honor belonged to Ranma 1/2, which I bought the manga of when it was being released two chapters an issue by Viz. Unlike Ranma however, Urusei Yatsura’s anime did have a release in the UK thanks to AnimEigo, so that became my first Takahashi anime.
Urusei Yatsura as a series contains a mix of many things that other shows, either anime or otherwise, try to emulate but wind up screwing up. There’s screwball romance and strange love triangles, there’s the fantastic colliding head-on with the mundane, there’s comedy and drama, and it’s all in the same place and it’s all in the same package.
Now that I’m older and hopefully wiser, there are some things about Urusei Yatsura that aren’t as good as I would hope it to be. But as a whole, it is one hell of a series, and a hell of a serialized debut for Takahashi. It’s an anime and manga that was a touchstone for so many back then. And even now, it still has that something that keeps me coming back to it, again and again.
That’s my Rumiko Week done. Thanks for reading, everyone.
August 24th: Favorite Series
man who could have seen this one coming haha totally not me anyway i really love uy and everything about it i dont know why ive grown to like it so much but it just sort of happened naturally idk the funny thing is the first rumiko takahashi thing i saw was inuyasha
funfact: the uy pachinko and pachislot games use different voice actors for all of the characters besides lum
Rumiko Week - August 23rd: Character Development
Lum: Remember when she was the dangerous interloper in Ataru and Shinobu’s relationship? Ataru could probably also count here too, as he goes from supremely unlucky and hormonal yet somewhat average high schooler to a guy who can run 100m in seven seconds to chase after a pretty face.
Ryouga: He started out as Ranma’s blood rival out for vengeance, became a rival for the heart of Akane, and eventually grew into one of Ranma’s closest friends and comrades.
Shinobu: Kind of a interesting one here. Shinobu sort of starts out as Ataru’s love interest, but she starts to pursue Mendou as soon as he makes his first appearance. But then she starts to tire of Mendou, and she increasingly moves away from just being Mendou’s hanger-on.
Rumiko Week- Most Relatable Character: Sesshomaru
