Rumiko Week Part 8: Best Series - Urusei Yatsura
@rumikoweek
Literally every post I made for Rumiko Week was about Urusei Yatsura and my love for it. This show is honestly one of my favorites ever just because of it’s sense of wonder and creativity. Seeing that one person, be it an alien, coming to a normal town would change things so much, that’s just wild to me. Anyway enough rambling. Happy Rumiko Week! I hope you all had as much as a fun time as I did!
Day 2 of rumiko week : favorite plot I could just pull something out of her LONG ass series but mermaid saga as a short storyline is perfect enough to be considered a plot. The idea of immortality shown in 3D is so interesting, and the new way of showing mermaids like death sirens instead of Ariel the princess of the sea was WOAH. The plot is heavily based on immortality, immorality, ugliness of human nature, loneliness, love and lights at the end of the tunnel. It’s deffo my favorite plot premise. Eating mermaid flesh and being immortal if you’re lucky or forever trapped a deformed monster. Who could even think that up? The answer is quite simple; Rumiko Takahashi
Rumiko week day 3 : Favorite Male Character (The shameless half woman) (I asked Rumiko sensei what her favorite Ranma line is and she said ‘the one he says while he’s fighting his dad, 'hey that’s my pickle!’ I think you can condense all of ranma as a person into that one line’ -Kappei Yamaguchi, the voice of Ranma Saotome) No one else even came to mind! Ranma, Ranma, Ranma. Where do I even begin? I know you can throw him into the jerk with a heart of gold trope, but you also generally can’t, because unless you count his 'foot in mouth syndrome but pls dont blame me I have 0 social experience’ he’s a ridiculously nice guy (Think being nice to Konatsu, Tsubasa when sad, Ryoga, saving Herb after what he did, generally protective of his schoolmates and even his pesky suitors) and kind of a man of virtue unless you count how petty he gets in battle and how low he can stoop when his pride is on the line. I realize that he IS a nice friendly guy, but his pride happens to be his MAJOR character flaw. No way to describe the sucker except by referencing to Rumikos opinions, he’s nice, clean cut, kind, frank, indecisive, picky, stingy, sly, manipulative and has an ego the size of Tokyo. And I love every bit of him.
Rumiko week : most relatable characters Okay, personally I see myself in a lot of characters but never condensed into one, and unlike many people I don’t see myself much in Ryoga Hibiki, eternally lost unlucky boy, however I can’t deny the fact that so many people do. Both Godai and Ryoga have that unlucky charm about them which makes them extremely loveable to readers. Specially Ryoga in the case of teenagers feeling like ‘lol why am I an unlucky shit’ and Godai appealing to young adults feeling like ‘lol why am I an unlucky shit who has 0 idea what to do in life and why do I fail at things sometimes’
Rumiko Week Day 7: Character Development
AND FOR FINAL WEEK~
Rumiko Week 7- Favorite Series
its pretty obvious which one is my favorite XD And p.s. that’s supposed to be me hugging him ;)
RUMIKO TAKAHASHI WEEK DAY 6
August 22nd: Most Relatable Character
Sakura Mamiya -Kyoukai no Rinne
Rinne Rondo-Kyoukai no Rinne
Kikyo-Inuyasa
First off
Sakura gives no fucks. Yeah she helps Rinnie but to be honest she really doesn’t give any fucks she is the true Mvp of KnR aslo if you go to the KNR wiki it says this about her
Sakura is very different from several of the other leading females from Rumiko Takahashi’s works (such as Akane from Ranma ½ or Kagome from Inuyasha) in that she is much more calm and less proned to angry bursts or violence.
Rinne I believe we all have a bit of Rinne inside of us all. we all are broke to some degree, we all love free stuff and we all hate being down to our last dime or food
Kikyo is cold yet is always one step ahead of naraku.She a planner. Im a planner we both have someone we want to take down
Rumiko Week // Day 7 // Character Development
I never thought that I would be your lover.
Come on please dear….understand

Rumiko Week Part 7: Character Development - Shinobu Miyake
@rumikoweek
I would say that Shinobu had the most character development in Urusei Yatsura. She used to just be pissed at Ataru, but when Mendou came her views started changing and the more she realized she didn’t have to like a boy just because of it, rather she could like whoever she wanted to. She became less and less focused on boys as the series progressed and became more independent and, well, less angry all the time. I think that her growing as a person and realizing she could do whatever, made her a much better character in the long run.
@rumikoweek , End: Favorite Series.
Something a little different today, it’s a bit long, but it’s just me gushing about how much I love the series, how much I love running this blog, and how much I love the people who have accepted me into the community.
RUMIKO TAKAHASHI WEEK FINAL DAY
August 24th: Favorite Series
INUYASHA
Inuysha was the first series i seen in the Takahashi universe(the second was Ranma)
I love Inuyasha! I watch the series during the adult swing first wave. I brought the mangas back when it use to cost $16 before the first price drop to $10 then $7-8 ($3-$4 if you buy it use on amazon now) and i use to record the episode when it aired on adult swim with a vcr that how much i love this fucking show and yes i still have the tapes!
i even went have a IY shirt that i gotten when i was 16 rom a store in nyc. I remember going to Hottopic (before it became shit) and being amazed and happy when i saw a IY blind toy box and i brought it (i got a miroku which i can’t find now) but i was so happy.
I remember being uber happy when i heard that the Final arc was not only coming to toonami but it was dub(yeah i was a bit piss that the orginal sesshomaru and kagome didn’t came back but kagome VA dd a good job sessy baby not so much to me) and i re-watch all of the episode dub this time
im so old but fuck it
I feel inuyasha as well as Takahashi other work is important not only to me but to all of the anime community as a collective it a good show, good characters and i just love it.
Rumiko Week - August 24th: Favourite Series - Urusei Yatsura
The funny thing is that Urusei Yatsura isn’t my first introduction to Rumiko Takahashi. Like many other people of my age, that honor belonged to Ranma ½, which I bought the manga of when it was being released two chapters an issue by Viz. Unlike Ranma however, Urusei Yatsura’s anime did have a release in the UK thanks to AnimEigo, so that became my first Takahashi anime.
Urusei Yatsura as a series contains a mix of many things that other shows, either anime or otherwise, try to emulate but wind up screwing up. There’s screwball romance and strange love triangles, there’s the fantastic colliding head-on with the mundane, there’s comedy and drama, and it’s all in the same place and it’s all in the same package.
Now that I’m older and hopefully wiser, there are some things about Urusei Yatsura that aren’t as good as I would hope it to be. But as a whole, it is one hell of a series, and a hell of a serialized debut for Takahashi. It’s an anime and manga that was a touchstone for so many back then. And even now, it still has that something that keeps me coming back to it, again and again.
That’s my Rumiko Week done. Thanks for reading, everyone.
Rumiko Week Day 8: Favorite Series
↪ Toward Tomorrow
My favorite series is definitely Inuyasha. I don’t know what I would be like if I hadn’t discovered this series and I’m so grateful that Rumiko Takahashi created it.
Rumiko week 6- Character Development
oh jeez I couldn’t just pick Inuyasha for every damn thing.. And also he wasn’t the only one that developed…. SO HERE’S THE CREW!!XD
Rumiko Week Part 6: Most Relatable Character - Shinobu Miyake
@rumikoweek
WOAH. ANOTHER URUSEI YATSURA THING. NEVER WOULD’VE GUESSED.
So Shinobu… she’s just a typical girl in the “normal” Tomobiki Town. She goes to high school and dates Ataru, the typical high school boy. But when things get real and the world could end, she agrees to marry Ataru if he succeeds in saving the world. When he does save the world, Shinobu’s proposal is mistaken by Lum, where she thinks Ataru wishes to marry her, which leads to the zaniness that is Urusei Yatsura. AND SHINOBU IS PISSED. She had a completely normal life and now her boyfriend is married to a super powered alien. And now she is wrapped up in intergalactic hijinx all because her boyfriend can’t decide if he loves her or Lum. She’s stuck dealing with all this crap because of her association with another person. Great.
Rumiko Week 2016 Day 7
Favorite Series: Inuyahsa
“I’m not really a demon; not really human. I’m not either. That’s all. There was no place for me, so I had find one myself. And then I realized. I had a place, but I was the only one in it. I didn’t know any other way to live.”
