Only just realized I hadn't posted this yet!

Earlier this year, I got the honor of working with the Transmissions Quilt Project. My recipient had connections to the ocean, lots of beautiful colors, and a dragon in their childhood hills. I was given a beautiful painting and music mix to work from, in addition to a small interview with the recipient.

What came from it was a mixture of 60° diamonds, and some improv piecing in squares and rectangles. The final quilt measures about 63" x 64" or so, cotton quilting fabric, cotton batting, with some natural dyed silk and recycled cotton pieces given to me for the project.

My second quilt for the Transmissions Project. My recipient asked for a soft, warm quilt of blue, green and a bit of orange.

Half-square triangles, pieced. 72" x 72", cotton top, batting, cotton flannel backing, thread, polyester thread.

August 16, 2025 - EPP Unicorn Quilt Started

And so it begins! I've promised my wife a unicorn-themed quilt centered around a gorgeous Michael Miller panel I found awhile ago. I recently decided the general idea of what I plan to do for it, and this is the first step. Or, this is the first test piece for it.

I plan to do a modified Millefiori quilt, with the EPP pieces surrounding the panel. I decided to give glue basting a try finally, and I think I've already figured out a few things to do differently on the next one. (Since it was a test piece, I didn't punch holes for the papers, but I plan to remedy that in the next batch) I'm hoping it will lay flatter once the papers are out? And pressing, of course. But just look at that nested seam- so satisfying. 😌

Just don't comment on my not-so-fussy cutting lmao.

My half of a craft trade with @wreckhound made it home safely, so I can finally post some photos!

I'm a sucker for a dramatic Victorian floral, so I was a little jealous sending it off! But that just means I'll have to make something similar for myself one of these days.

3/4 Circle Skirt, Stretch Cotton Sateen w/ crochet cotton lace, belt loops and in-seam pockets. I bound (almost) all the seams with bias tape for some extra security (hopefully)!

My scrap pile has been overrunning its basket(s), so I decided it's time to just make some scrap blocks and figure out what i'm doing with them later.

I'm partly starting to prep for an art market in November, and figure i will make use of these. Someone suggested book covers for sketchbooks/notebooks, so I may just get some bookbinding supplies soon. 🤔

I CAN FINALLY POST THIS!

I've been working on this quilt since November, but having to keep it secret from my darling wife, who this was a gift for.

Today marks our 10 year anniversary of dating, and Journey (PS3) was the reason we met, so I thought this a fitting tribute to that, and us. And hopefully many more years together.

I put the pattern together in G Sheets, made with Everyday Chambray in Solar & Garnet (bamboo/cotton), Bamboo Quilter's Dream batting, and bamboo/cotton sheeting for the backing. The lighting really doesn't do the colors justice.

I will be releasing the pattern as a PWYW/optional donation for anyone who wants it once I have time to write it up properly-ish.

It's been awhile since I've just chased the weird ideas for a sewing project. A lot of my day job sewing involves fairly simple patterns, and things designed to be teachable in the short term, and I have to keep marketability in mind for our usual clientele. But I'm an art student at heart, and it's nice to scratch the "what if" itch a bit, so I've been having fun with this new project.

This is the beginnings of a quilted cropped hooded jacket. Instead of a more traditional quilting cotton, the outside is a metallic jacquard that I'm freemotion quilting with a silk batting and cotton lining. Freemotion quilting isn't my strongest skill, but you can't learn if you don't practice.

It's about 1/6th quilted at this stage, and then I'll cut the pattern pieces out. I'm debating how closely I'll follow the pattern I'm using for the finishing steps once I get there, but I will be installing a separating zipper.

Today I made a little wool plush base for a secret santa that *will* be a sheep soon. 🐑

She's a little lumpy, but this wool isn't very thick, and my stitches are a little too large, but I think she'll still be awfully cute once I'm all done with her, which should be tomorrow. I've bought some wool roving yarn to give her a fluffy coat, and will stitch on her tail and ears at the end.

Pattern is from The House of Beasts on etsy, whose pattern has been wonderfully informative and cheeky. I'll definitely be making more at a later date.
