Honestly, running used to be something i despised. I grew up playing basketball & soccer, would dread the conditioning workouts involving it. If you would’ve told me 3 years ago that i’d one day run a half marathon, I would’ve laughed in your face. I usually don't half ass-thing. Im either completely consumed by something giving it all my all or just give up.
Running become the former. Gyms just aren't my thing and treadmills usually bore the heck out of me, So I became lunatic who ran around my neighbourhood since it was the only a jog-able area nearby. My friends thought i was crazy and I'm sure my parents did as well, but i stuck to it gradually building up from running for 10 minutes the first week to running 10 miles straight at the end. I signed up for my first 10k in may 2015 with a goal of “Please God keep it under 1hour”. I ran my first 10k, the Mandiri kick off to Jakarta Marathon in 56 minutes and i was hooked! Next up i was like “now i contemplating a half marathon”. I can so vividly remember the first training run of 10k and thinking how far it felt and how amazed i was that did it.
Im joining the RunningRage team, its kinda like an open community/ a bunch of people who loves running. They encourage each other to run better every day. The people there are amazing, passionate runners, truly blessings for me. I was conquering my first half marathon which is Singapore Sundown Marathon on June 2015 with some of the troops. I knew my goal should just to be finish since it was my first time running that far, But I really wanted to do it under 2,5 hrs. All my training runs were between 7.30-8.00 pace so i figured i had a decent chance. The weather the day before the race when we had our #btg shake out run was weird nonetheless i had fun meeting runners from around the world. Was distracted with the humidity level but thank God i was able to finish the 21.1k race even not in my best time.
After the half, I kinda fell into a mental slump. Everyone i knew said “once you do your first half, you’ll want to do more or a full”. Well that didn’t happen to me. These days I just run a 10k and sometimes 15k just to keep my body fit and also still doing some basketball and soccer but running is still a behind the scenes constant for me.
Sometimes w’re in total lust, other time we’re on an extended break, but its a relationship, i can't see ever ending. :D
