The Struggle is Real
Im just gonna start off by saying yesterday's run was a real struggle, no joke. Like I had previously said before I was still sore from Monday but I figured the recovery time shouldn't be that long so I decided to go on the run. I started walking for a little probably only a few feet then I began to run. I could feel the soreness in my calves, ankles and upper thighs. Yes it was hard. I have struggled with running and have been afraid of it because of pain but this wasn't helping, but I thought to my self that I could do this. That once I was warmed up it would go away and that the more I kept this running thing going the more my body will adapt. So I started to get warmed up and the soreness did go away but I started to cramp on my right leg. Yep, that did not feel nice. I tried and stretch it out and keep walking and running but it was really bothersome. I decided just to push through it and keep running as much as I could and walking when I couldn't anymore and stretching it out when it was too much to walk or run on. Yes I did this most of the way. I was disappointed in my self maybe I wasn't running with proper posture or I wasn't paying attention to my stride. All these things were going through my head and I was sad because I really want to do this. I got home and I took time to stretch really well and as I relaxed positivity kicked in. I began to think to my self that I pushed through, that I had done it, and that everyday I should take it as it comes and push through. I'm still not sure why I cramped but I learn as I go. Being completely honest I have not tweaked my eating habits and it's definitely something I'll work on as soon as I can. Yes I know eating has a great deal to do with it and it's something I want to correct as well. I'm taking baby steps and trying my best as I know how. Wish me luck on today's run.
Reminiscing: My First Marathon
What I've Learned Since My First Marathon
I ran The Tucson Marathon for the first time in December 2001. Running a marathon was a dream that I secretly held onto for a long time, but never believed that I could actually do it. I was too chicken to just train and sign up for one all by myself and the people that did run them seemed, well, way out of my league.
Then, whilst running (and chatting!) with a friend, she threw into the…
