Love Songs [Explained]
Transcript Under the Cut
Jim Croce is an amazing singer. Dear God, he died at 30 years old. But his albums (of which there was either three or five, according to wikipedia) are amazing. I'm listening to them right now. I just listened to one of them all the way through. And it reminds me of something I already knew: I love folk music. It seems like most of the albums I can successfully listen to all have some amount of folk to them. I don't know what about it appeals to me, but I think folk music might just be one of those things for me. It's just really nice sometimes.
And Jim Croce's songs are all amazing. I don't love sad songs usually, because they can be emotionally devastating. Some of Jim Croce's songs are no exception, but they're still so freaking beautiful in their melody. I can't hate songs that are both very fun and upbeat, very sad and mournful and just full of tales of humanity. Folk music is probably a favoured genre specifically because of that. It's full of story songs, songs all about people and places and the lives of people. On a good day, the songs will either be relatable or capable of painting a picture, and it'll ideally be a picture I like. Sometimes the images don't sit with me right, and those are the bad days.
I also tend to like singer songwriters, now that I think about it. That's a bit of an interesting thing to realize, but it does seem true. I also need to like the singer's voice, though. Sometimes there are just voices that grate on you and devastate you. I'm not sure what I'm even trying to convey here anymore. But I'm getting kind of lost, so I'll just post this.
