Me, when Russell actually was able to put Josephine’s subconscious into Clarke, without any interference from Spacekru (no one even noticed she was gone or hurt):

Theory: they are going to let them stay for Clarke to transfer Josephine into her which is what a lot of people were saying because our fandom is filled with a bunch of smarty pants!

The 100 Leadership

So I've been thinking of episode 4 and how Raven compared Clarke to Octavia saying that at least Octavia owned up to not feeling guilty about being a bloodthirsty crazy person. At first I got really pissed off because Raven was once again being hypocritical as hell and really I don't want to get into Raven and her character right now because if she doesn't shape up soon she is going to go on the dislike list of characters I have along with Octavia. My point of bringing it up is I believe the writers wanted us to compare the two. We are supposed to look at them and go uhh no Clarke doesn't try to be a bloodthirsty syco the closest she came to be one was when she started killing off the elegance 4 guys and I feel like she actually regrets that now. She also owns her part in the bad stuff she does. Raven said something about Octavia owning up to her bad deeds but that is bullshit. Yeah Octavia has been calling herself a monster recently but she doesn't actually blame herself for becoming one she blames Abby for making her a monster or for being one. Octavia is still trying to blame anyone else for her bad actions when SHE was the leader SHE made the choice to follow Abby's advice. When you're in charge you have to take responsibility even if you aren't fully at fault because YOU have the final say in everything. We are ment to see that Clarke does take responsibility. "I'm the bad guy" and "I bear it so they don't have to" are Clarkes inner mantras. But you know what else she accused Clarke of? Apologizing and not meaning it. Raven also says something like "you apologize and then you do it again" and I could be wrong but when the hell has Clarke done something she really regrets and then did it again? I can't think of a single time. She learns from her mistakes. But you know who does apologize without meaning it? RUSSELL! You can't apologize for something WHILE you are doing it. And you know I was sorta drinking the koolaid when Russell apologized to the other prime for locking her out but now after seeing the EXACT same face he gave the prime be the EXACT same face he has when he thinks he is killing Clarke I'm like nah he is evil as fuck always was you were just being gullible. The writers wanted us to compare Clarke to these two leaders and realize that she isn't like either one that she IS taking responsibility and she DOES mean it when she is trying to make amends no matter what crazy logic Raven is following to think that she isn't.

ok but am i the only one thinking that the “old man” is gabriel??

- they’re the children of gabriel. what do some kids call their dads? old man.

- from the limited flashbacks we’ve seen so far, when the psychosis causes russell the first to kill his daughter/wife/others in the camp, gabriel definitely escapes

- we don’t know how the primes/consciousness being passed on business comes about, though i’m sure we will soon, but if gabriel the first is one of those who gets a Gabriel Chip, and it’s passed down...

- along the way, probably spurred by witnessing the v first eclipse murder spree, he realizes the immorality of what they’re doing

- so he tries to end it. violence probably ensues, and he and his followers leave

- ok so then what?

- he hates the primes, yes, but maybe he knows that he’s the best shot of getting rid of them.

- so he keeps himself alive as well, passing on his chip, vowing to not be a god, but to stay alive out of necessity. waiting for the day he can finally rest (aka die).

- again, though, he doesn’t want to live in that same sanctum mindset, so he creates a culture of the opposite. ‘death to primes’. ‘death is life’. now, instead of fearing death as the primes do, their culture not only accepts it, but welcomes it

- and apparently he lives in the anomaly that we see during the opening credits... hmm. Interesting.

- perhaps because the primes tried to hunt him down?

- think of it. the biggest threats to regimes always come from the people on the inside, who know what goes on behind closed doors.

- gabriel is a prime example of this-- no pun intended.

- whatsherface rose’s bodyguard sounded pretty interested in whether or not the old man was still alive, but if he hasn’t been seen by this generation, how would they know who it is?

conclusion: THE OLD MAN IS GABRIEL. :)
