All right, so listen. We could go around complaining about the slow mo trainwreck that was s7 leading into the disaster that was the finale… but honestly, what point would that have?
We CAN’T explain it with narrative, because it was separate from the 6 seasons of narrative we got. Yes, ever season was new, but they followed the same story, and season 7 was a departure, leaving most of that long term story behind.
What do we do? There’s nothing left to do with canon. It done fucked up.
Honestly, I refuse to get obsessed over the bad stuff when I am kind of over even the good stuff? Like, I was ready for the 100 to be over and even though we got a crap ending, all that does is make me GLAD it’s over without any divided feelings.
I have give SO MUCH of my energy to this show and I don’t regret it, because it was a great story. And I enjoyed it and got a lot out of it.
But I also put energy into this show that I was not using for other things, and over the last couple of years, I was kind of wanting to move on.
So this is what I’m doing. Rather than feeling betrayed (i don’t care enough it turns out) or spinning my wheels on a canon that went off the tracks, or doing deep analysis on What Went Wrong, or continuing to fight the STUPID shipwars.
These are the things I’d like to focus on with my newfound non the 100 free time.
Querying my novels, Moonshine, a space opera with a bellarke dynamic and Girl of Freaks, an urban fantasy with a heroine who discovers she is half lycan.
homeschooling my teens, one of whom is autistic.
Finding a way to NOT have to be a ghostwriter anymore. it takes too much energy from my other projects.
Finishing my unfinished novels, Spacewitch, a spaceopera about a middle aged witch and space captain who has to face her past to save her people, and Sleepers, a space opera about a girl who is mindwiped and sent to a new planet in cryosleep in order to be made a human womb for the population of the universe.
Figuring out what to do with my poetry. I haven’t tried to publish it since I was in my early 20s.
Developing my blog/website because I need to take my career seriously. Or maybe less seriously and just have fun with it idk.
Maybe rebooting my patreon which I failed at.
Straightening up my studio so it’s functional and actually using it.
Maybe eventually developing some online courses. How do I do that? the teaching I have. But how do you get them online? ugh.
wow I have a lot to do. But I want to put my energy into it, things for me, things that I can give to others, instead of treating tumblr as my job, which i did for many years. I maybe needed it then, but I don’t know.
So my challenge to you is to think about what you’d like in your life after the vacuum that the 100 finale left in your life.
What do you want to do with this one wild and precious life of yours?
It’s too important to waste on feeling bad about a story that someone you don’t like told. Take what’s good from your show or your experience in fandom and turn it into a transformative experience for YOU.
