An evangelical leader is warning that conservative Christians are now rejecting the teachings of Jesus as "liberal talking points."

Russell Moore, former top official for the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) who is now the editor-in-chief of Christianity Today, said during an interview aired on NPR's All Things Considered this week that Christianity is in a "crisis" due to the current state of right-wing politics.

Moore has found himself at odds with other evangelical leaders due to his frequent criticism of former President Donald Trump. He resigned his position with the SBC in 2021 following friction over his views on Trump and a sex abuse crisis among Southern Baptist clergy.

parking this here because the question does trouble me: what is a Christian woman to do in the face of what seems to be an anti-Christian government? for the way these Christian nationalists behave is not of Christ. they forget that on which all the law and the prophets hang.

Russell Moore gave an answer that uses more of Scripture and of history than most people attempt. I like that. I like context.

Song Review: Alison Krauss & Union Station - “Granite Mills”

New fella Russell Moore wasted no time establishing himself as an essential member of Alison Krauss & Union Station, taking lead vocals on “Granite Mills.”

The second single from the forthcoming (March 28) Arcadia finds the IIIrd Tyme Out frontman (he replaces Dan Tyminski) serving as the AKUS frontman and witness to the gruesome factory fire that inspired the old-time song.

The next scene was a hard one/as she passed before my eyes/she was leaping out a window/thrown from the roof so high/with a crack, she fell down on the ground/she was bruised and burned and killed/three hundred people lost their lives in the flames of the burning mill, Moore sings as Jerry Douglas’ Dobro and Krauss’ fiddle add a haunting soundscape.

This is an altogether different Union Station, moodier and grittier than in the past, and “Granite Mills” is a stark contrast to the preceding “Looks Like the End of the Road.” But stark differences are often pleasing and so it goes with “Granite Mills.”

Apparently Jesus is too "woke" for some white Evangelical Christians. And that segment of the US population gave Trump a larger percentage of its votes in 2020 than in 2016.

If they are turning their backs on Jesus in favor of Trump, are they still "Christian" by definition?

These folks are basically worshiping Trump as a false god.

I found a Bible verse that reminds me of these Trump worshipers, it's from the Book of Hosea.

Nowadays those craftsmen are making MAGA caps and coffee cups with Trump's mugshot.

Remember how people were posing next to a graven image of Trump at CPAC a year or so ago? He's the new Baal.

Trump is at the center of a new religion.
