“Kozume,” she yelled sweetly, prancing into the practice gym with a devilish smirk on her face (Meanwhile, the aforementioned sighs and avoids her gaze with his phone), “I finally get a chance to come see you practice and this is how you treat me? I’m hurt.”
Her hands come up to ruffle his bleach blond hair, before coming together in a clap. Although, she doesn’t look all too hurt, judging from the look on her face alone.
She’s short, shorter than Kenma, and her eyes hold a glitter of life to them that Lev had never seen before. Her long, dark hair falls smoothly down her back and the school uniform she dons fits her unusually well. She’s pretty, no doubt, but looking around the room, Lev could see he wasn’t the only one who thought so.
Half the guys on the court were catching glances of this girl, silently questioning her relationship with Kenma, of all people. Lev knew Kenma was a nice guy when he wanted to be, but he certainly wasn’t social or even remotely as bubbly as this girl seemed to be. Lev didn’t even think he was worried about girls yet.
“Hey, Lev,” Yaku prodded his elbow into his friend’s side, “you think that’s Kenma-san’s girlfriend?”
“Relax Haiba, it was just a question!” Yaku stuttered out a laugh at Lev’s denial. Clearly it wasn’t hard to tell that he was having some sort of feelings towards this girl. The silver headed boy narrowed his eyes as he looked pointedly downwards.
“Of course, Chibi-chan,” he grumbled, turning his attention back to the original topic of interest, ignoring Yaku’s furious expression.
Her smile was beaming with equal parts adoration and mischief. A rare combination, really, and the more he looked, the more it reminded him of a certain teammate with an affinity for gaming. They’ve probably been together so long that they have similar mannerisms!
Lev physically cringed at the thought.
“(Y/N),” Kenma started, without even looking up at her from his game, “I thought we already agreed that you would go home today. We’ll probably be here later than usual.”
“Aww don’t be so cold. I just wanted to come watch for a bit,” she took a seat next to him and poked his cheek softly, puffing out her own in mock annoyance, “I never said I would stay the whole time.”
As she said this, her catlike eyes glanced around the room in assessment, taking in everything that had been set up and everyone who takes up so much of her beloved Kenma’s time every day. She hesitated on the tall, silver-haired male before her face split into that same mischievous grin.
Her long strides contrasted greatly with her not-so-long legs, hinting at her prowess and confidence. Before long she halted in front of him, tossing her hair over her shoulder and holding her hand out.
“Hi. I’m (Y/N),” she spoke sweetly. At this, the setter’s eyes snapped up to the two and he squinted slightly, “And you are?”
It took Lev a few seconds to finally get his body to respond. With wide eyes and a light blush littering his cheeks, he held out a hand to grasp hers.
He savored the way it felt, although short lived. Her hands were much smaller than his large, thin ones, but he adored them. He didn’t notice he hadn’t actually answered her question.
The rest of the group tittered quietly in disbelief, their shock resonating throughout the gym, save for Kenma and Kuroo. Lev had a feeling his captain knew something he didn’t, but that was for him to figure out another time. Right now, a pretty girl was holding his hand.
And dragging him away....?
“Kozu~” the girl sung with a giggle, pulling him until they had stopped in front of the usually uninterested setter, “I think the only thing I’m regretting is not coming here sooner.”
The blush on Lev’s face was stifled by his fear looking into his teammate’s now glaring eyes. He had never seen this much emotion on him before in all his time here, and as pretty as she was, he didn’t want to be dragged into some couple feud that he didn’t know anything about. Was he just a tool to make her boyfriend jealous?
“(Y/N),” Kenma warned with a low, almost silent tone, but the girl picked up on it and only giggled again in response.
“C’mon... you would think as my twin you would at least trust me!” She spouted and Lev almost didn’t hear what she said over his heartbeat in his ears.
“Excuse me,” his eyes flitted back and forth between the two of them, “did you say twin??”
“Of course! You really think I would associate with this loser if I weren’t related to him?” She pointed and Kenma gave her shin a gentle kick of warning.
“It’s not like you’re any better, (Y/N).”
“Kuroo stay out of it,” she whined with a huff, “at least I have friends. And I would be making more if it wasn’t for you glaring them down.”
With that she tugged on Lev’s hand again and dragged him to the other end of the court where he was out of earshot.
“Do you have your phone on you?” She questioned bluntly and Lev nodded, “Let me give you my phone number so we can associate without my brother killing the mood.”
He fumbled through his pockets quickly before pulling out his phone and placing it in her outstretched hand, rubbing the back of his neck lightly. Just behind her he could see Kuroo stifling a laugh at his pupils newfound silence.
“There. Now we can get to know each other better, uh-”
“Lev,” he uttered for her.
“Lev. Well I’ll see you later, Lev-chan!”
She dropped his hand, giving him one last look over, then silently turning on her heels and bouncing away through the gym doors, the same confidence oozing in her steps as the last. The megane couldn’t help his lopsided grin as he watched her leave, frozen in his spot.
“Dude, I think Lev might become your brother in law,” he faintly heard Kuroo joke from his spot next to Kenma.
If he did, Lev could certainly die happy.
