Class. I grew up with a nanay who'd always tell me not to shop in #Rustan's because it's more expensive, because more sushal, and yet when I started teaching in Ateneo and I lived on Katipunan, the closest grocery was (of course!) a Rustan's, which didn't have a lot of things but had #BenAndJerry's -- a constant in my life of being full-time faculty for three years, a treat that saw me through exhaustion and frustration, among many other things, Adulthood and freelancer paychecks have meant the search for cheaper treats, and I realize that it is still Rustan's that I go to because contrary to what the mother thinks, I get the best because cheaper treats there, usually those I would otherwise feel guilty about buying. Here, this wonderful chocolate bar that was 50% off and therefore exactly what I needed on a long day (week!) of deadlines and chika and proposals.
