From my recently found treasures are two hand painted mother of pearl tiny vignettes of Persian life that were severely chipped and missing a lot of detail. Just listed - found treasures from the 1300’s to the 1800’s have been assembled alongside Roman glass beads and tiny iridescent opals to make rustic dangle earrings with a primitive vibe. I’ve arranged grungy and turquoise patina lost buckles, medieval hoops, button and a clock part found in the Notts/Leics/Lincs area together using sterling silver in a nod to bringing the end back to the beginning. Creating Roman Greyware beads again, this time slightly smaller so they balance with the Roman glass beads I’ve found. Roman glass beads are fascinating as many come from Afghanistan where the Romans traded along the Silk Road 2000 years ago. There is so much excess glass from excavations that local artisans carve amazing beads from surplus supplies rather than them be thrown away. Here I’ve taken two green glass pieces of similar size and stacked them with rustic pewter discs, Greyware beads and rough tumbled red garnets.
