alrighty folks, it's Eldritch time
So. Obviously the Magnus Archives (was a podcast) ended today. I have been diving through a lot of emotions in the past several hours, but after going through 12 stages of grief (seven new bonus feelings!) I feel ready to... well, whatever this is. Obviously, huge spoiler warning.
Jonah Magnus is dead, and it was the most satisfying thing for me to hear. The statement that followed was utterly brilliant, as they all were. I thought the history of the fears was just, so so fantastic. And how we learned that the Eye, for all its knowledge, was the least smart- amazing. I loved the last few minutes too, with the girls, and references to everyone's favorite character (the Admiral).
And now, the big bit- Jon and Martin.
I understand why people don't like their ending. It's a cliffhanger. We will never know if they are fully dead, or if only one is dead, or if they found a home together in a new world. And, I personally love it. It gives us, the listeners, the freedom to imagine whatever we please. We can pick our own ending, which can be incredibly satisfying. I'm really impressed with both characters, and how much they really loved each other, but also their world. When Martin stabbed Jon- my god, I felt the knife in my chest.
Y'all, I understand that some of you wanted more. You wanted a wedding, and you wanted the return of a bunch of characters, and you wanted Martin to kill Jonah. But the way that it is... It's perfect. We can deny it all we want, but The Magnus Archives was a horror podcast. There wasn't gonna be a happy, fluffy ending. That's why we have fanfiction. If you wanted an ending like that, The Magnus Archives was not the place to look.
I'm so incredibly proud of everyone who was involved. This ending- to me- was fantastic and excellent. This has been an amazing story, and I cannot wait to see everything else y'all amazing folks do.
