so what about them paul 2011 daemon au headcanons? :))

oh mAN anon! these headcanons tho

angst time: Ruth, Graeme, and Clive’s daemons are malsettled because of the environments they grew up in (which they bond over, btw)

meaning, their daemons settled early and their forms aren’t necessarily fitting, but they’re beneficial to their personality

Graeme’s daemon Deymira (Dey) settled as a dormouse. smol, unassuming, can hide away easily. she can usually be found curled up in his shirt pocket, or on his shoulder if he’s feeling confrontational/curious

Clive’s daemon Tikara settled as a crested porcupine. in the words of my friend, they have a calm/chill mode and a “pls don’t fuck with” mode. she’s a bit more mature than Clive, and very careful about where her quills go

Ruth’s daemon [hitherto unnamed] is a female white-winged dove. Having already worried her father so much by having a daemon the same gender as her, Ruth’s daemon wanted to settle as something as inconspicuous as possible.

BUT DUDE OK HERE’S THE COOL PART:

When Paul ‘zaps’ each of the trio and ‘transfers all his knowledge via tactile psychokinetic bridge,’ he actually gives their daemons peace and, using alien evolution magic, allows their daemons to take their proper forms, one by one. Or, at least, the closest they’re able to!

Deymira goes from a dormouse to a wily little weasel.

Tikara goes from a crested porcupine to a spiny palm cockatoo.

And Ruth’s daemon, we think, goes from a dull dove to a colorful pink-necked green pigeon. Or quite possibly a cat. We’re not sure!

These headcanons also belong to my friend @consulting-queer of Carnation Books, so unfortunately if they don’t like my posting these, I’ll have to take them down. But thank you so so much for asking! These kids and their daemons are my lifeblood rn, you have no idea :’D
