Cardin: Come on, I'm just teasing~ Stop acting like I'm-
BAM!
Ruby went flying at her top speed, slamming her elbow into Cardin's nose. A loud noise, similar to that of breaking glass, echoes through the room as Cardin's aura breaks. Cardin is then sent flying onto the floor, a trail of blood flying after him as Ruby stands where he stood, blood on her uniform's sleeve.
"...Shit."
"RUBY ROSE!"
[And this is the story of how I got detention.]
[After I died to Salem, I was sent back in time to my first day at Beacon. And apparently this is ALSO the day where I met Cardin Winchester.]
[...Well, we didn't meet for, like, another week and a half. We only share a PE period. But this IS the day where I saw Faunus bullying firsthand. I have Faunus neighbors. Back in Patch, I'd say the ratio of Human to Faunus is roughly 1:5. So I didn't meet a LOT of Faunus before coming to Beacon, but I did know a few. And I never saw anyone rude to them. The idea of being racist was so shocking to me that I didn't do anything the first time around.]
[But this time...?]
"You broke his nose!"
Ruby cringed at the scolding Glynda Goodwitch was giving her.
[Yeah, Beacon has very strict rules about fighting in school.]
"But he was bullying another student! How is that okay?!"
"Mr. Winchester will be dealt with, Miss Rose. But not before we deal with you using your Semblance AND assaulting another student in the cafeteria! If not for his Aura, you might've fractured his skull!"
[Damn. If only I didn't slip on that banana peel...]
[The tongue lashing lasted for almost 30 minutes. In a way, I get that Glynda was right. I escalated the conflict. But I always kicked myself; last time, I just sat there doing nothing. I was outraged that nobody said or did anything - disgusted that Yang just said it must've been rough being a Faunus. And then, I hated myself for doing less than nothing - I didn't even comment on it. I just sat there, quietly.]
Ruby rubbed the seat of her skirt and huffed. "Stupid crop..." She mumbled as she walked out Glynda's office and started to make her way to the dorms. With a final pat, she turned the corner and spotted the rest of her team waiting for her.
"Damn, Rubes! You went off like a rocket!" Yang laughed, slapping Ruby on the back. A little too hard for Ruby's liking as static ran up her spine.
[At least she didn't go too low...]
"I don't think I've ever seen you bolt like that before!"
"Don't encourage her!" Weiss snapped at the giggling blonde before looking at Ruby. "You dolt! You nearly got us in trouble too!"
"Sorry, but-"
"Don't 'but' me!" Weiss continued, cutting Ruby off. "You're Team Leader, so take the position seriously! Your actions reflect on the rest of us!"
[I forgot how cute Weiss is when she gets pushy. But sadly, she does have a point. It might not be right, but I did drag them into my mess. They most likely got a talking to as well. They shouldn't get in trouble on my behalf...]
"Aw come on, Ice Queen." Yang threw her arm around Weiss, trapping her in a vice-like grip. "She stopped someone from being bullied. That's a good thing." Yang winked at Ruby, "you had the right idea, Ruby. We all should've said something."
"Get off of me!"
Ruby gave a small giggle, "thanks, Yang." She then stole a glance at Blake, who stood by. Quietly, judgingly. Those golden eyes watching Ruby intensely.
[I had to force myself to not look at her bow. I know Blake is a Faunus and that her bow is a disguise to hide it.]
[I want to say something, but I don't wanna scare her off. Or out myself as some kind of time traveler. So instead...]
"Sorry I got you all in trouble though." Ruby said, "but I couldn't stand by and let someone get bullied. It's not right to treat Velvet like that just because she's different."
Blake continued to remain silent, but she gave a nod.
Approval? Ruby couldn't tell; Blake was not an easy book to read.
so i know it’s clearly a massive minority but i was just saying to my friend today how i find it interesting that a character like ilia - who’s not-white, gay, and a woman - was initially labelled as a psycho by the fandom and apparently completely irredeemable despite not doing nearly as heinous shit, whereas adam - white, likely straight, a man - can groom teenagers, kill loads of innocent people in cold blood, and emotionally abuse/manipulate people and some people still cling to “but he was abused! he can be redeemed! plus he really actually does care for blake” like sorry ilia has more care for blake in a single strand of hair than adam in his entire goddamned body
Kerry confirmed it on RWBY Rewind, unless they “pull a Darth Maul” and bring Adam back, he died from his injuries and there won’t be a Cinder-style fakeout.
