One thing I kind of wish existed is Team WTCH having any real connection to Team RWBY.

In short:

Watts couldn’t care less about Team RWBY. He never even met them and probably wouldn’t give a rat’s fur hat about them. His true nemesis is Ironwood instead.

Tyrian targeted Ruby mostly because of his job under Salem’s orders. Although he was furious at her for cutting off his stinger, he ultimately became more of Qrow’s enemy due to the chaos he caused later on.

Hazel only fought Team RWBY because they got in his way. Like the others, his real opposition was Ozpin and, by extension, Oscar—far more than Team RWBY itself.

Cinder doesn’t care much about most of Team RWBY aside from Ruby. Ironically, Ruby sees her as a threat but has a stronger nemesis relationship with Cinder’s lackeys, Roman and especially Neo.

Overall, it’s unfortunate that all of Team WTCH, at the end of the day, doesn’t really care about Team RWBY—and the same goes for Team RWBY, who don’t give much thought to them aside from Cinder. But then again, Cinder is pretty much hated by everyone anyway.

I rewatched all of RWBY recently after volume 8 left me deeply upset for months.

(I uploaded this to Reddit, now I wanna see people's reactions on Tumblr.)

Honesty, up to volume seven the show feels like a slowly progressing fun time that starts out interesting but slow.

It gets better and better but I can see why volume four and five weren't the greatest to weekly viewers.

Six felt like the right amount of slow and action, though looking back now- I kinda don't like how Yang and Blake kill Adam. Don't get me wrong, the guy was a major **** but I kinda don't like how so much of the show tries to sell this 'humanity above all' thing but it feels like RWBY try to off their villains a little too often.

Volume 7 is where the cracks form for me. Penny's death and return being written into a joke feels kinda… sour. Like there's no crying? No shock and awe and disbelief. It's 'Penny's back!' and then either Yang or Blake drop a 'oh just like Penny'. Weiss should've played a bigger role and it's weird how the faunus dust miners plot isn't really brought up too much. I liked Mantle and wish there was more juxtaposition between it and Atlas.

Penny's moments kinda hurt to watch when you know not a lot of it matters in the end. Idk if this is a bad take but Winter was kinda hard to like at times. Clover's death feels pretty obvious to me that it was coming. Qrow having it good and not getting hit with something big like that would've felt too cheesy.

Ironwood becoming a villain doesn't bug me, what bugs me is Yang and Blake not talking with RW about informing Robyn about Amity.

Volume 8 just felt so. Depressing. Everything was so bleak and I genuinely had to step away to watch some owl house or something cause it gets so devoid of hope. Also knowing how it ends makes so much of the 'Keep Penny alive stuff' feel kinda. Forced? If not forced than just being put on for show to make the viewer feel sad for something so avoidable. Not a fan of Weiss' dad dying without her being involved, feels liked disrespectful to her whole arc being to out grown her dad's control over her.

Also still hate Jaune being the one to take out Penny. It's just way too much. Also couldn't listen to 'friend' just closed and tab and had to go outside.

I'd say RWBY is still decent, but imo they made volumes 7 and 8 way too big and some of the character deaths feel like a result of that. I don't think I'll ever be as big a fan boy as I was but maybe that's just because volume 8 ended and fucked me up at a bad time in my life. Maybe if Penny hadn't died I wouldn't have so much problems with the later volumes but I can't say.

Anyone else feel this way or think I'm just being too big of a baby?

Rwby fandom, we need to sort this out

Why can’t we all get along? Why does majority of this fandom always have something to complain about or disagree on something?

Seriously, some “critics” aren’t even criticizing the show, most of the time, it’s just complaining. Complaints about either animation quality, ships, “plot”, and having a favorite character die. Ok, let me explain that part. (Should i even say spoiler at this point?)

I get it, we’re all sad that Pyrra, and Penny died, and lost Beacon, but it’s this loss that developed our characters and they also needed a break from each other to sort things our for awhile and just think (hence the song “let’s just live.”) i mean, srry we didn’t get a happy end, but get over it, at least everyone is still ok and are still learning to move on and develop.

The fucking shipwars need to stop. Seriously, the biggest problem of all in this goddamn fandom are the shipwars, like why??? Especially bumbleby. What’s so wrong with bumbleby? Why is everyone against bumbleby? I mean, I’ve seen wasps (i think that’s wat they’re called), but everyone (mostly blacksun shippers) are hella against bumbleby shippers. And everyone is in so much denial about bumbleby going to be canon soon too. I mean, it’s all right there and here (these are videos being explained about bumbleby)

Honestly, I’m not going to explain All that matters and bumblee, it’s all self explanatory, and confirmed that it’s about Yang pining Blake. I mean, if you’re going to go out of your way to make some absurd assumption like,”Bumblebee is about Yang’s motorbike, bumblebee,” just admit you don’t like bumbleby and get over it.

In short:

Anti-bumblebee and bumblebees, there’s more to rwby than just shipping. Focus more on the storyline and foreshadowing the creators leave for us, than bragging who has more moments and making stupid assumptions bc some of y’all are in denial.

And bystanders, ik rwby isn’t a perfect show, but the show can’t satisfy everyone’s needs for a happy end. They’re gonna get a happy ending soon (at least i hope they do, somehow), but it’s better they get that happy end through loss that has them learn and develop and grow yk?

Cinder Fall is… obviously a complicated character for me. I’m genuinely mixed on her. I don’t completely hate her—she’s just very complicated.

The Good

Her intellect and combat prowess were genuinely impressive. She consistently outsmarted the heroes and absolutely demolished most of her opponents.

Her design and color scheme are still some of the coolest in the show.

Her early mystery was captivating. In Volumes 1–3, she felt like a real independent threat with her own skills, resources, and agenda. That made her stand out compared to Roman, Mercury, Adam, Emerald, or even Neo at the time.

She genuinely seemed to be building toward something bigger than what we ultimately got.

The Ruby vs. Cinder rivalry had massive potential and was being set up beautifully.

She worked great as an evil mirror/foil to RWBY, JNPR, and Ozpin’s circle through her own faction.

The Bad – Everything after Volume 3 Pretty much all of what made her compelling got stripped away and replaced with a smug, faux-competent lackey who’s obsessed with power. She was arrogant before, but it felt earned back then, and she at least had some entertaining dynamics with her allies. Now she’s played completely seriously, has zero redeeming or likable traits, and never evolves—which just makes her look pathetic.

Her once-elegant fighting style has been dumbed down, her strategic mind is basically gone, and Salem ended up inheriting all the clever traits Cinder used to have. She barely uses Maiden powers creatively, her relationships with Watts, Emerald, Mercury, and Neo devolved into her treating everyone like trash (so nothing fresh ever happens there), and the story just keeps repeating the same “Cinder wants power → Cinder screws up because of ego → Cinder throws a tantrum” cycle.

Even when she’s technically “exiled,” she’s still just following Salem’s orders in the most boring way possible. On top of that, aside from Jaune (and maybe Ruby), literally no one on Team RWBY or their extended friend group seems to care that she exists anymore.

So yeah, I don’t outright hate Cinder, but post-Volume 3 she became really obnoxious and stagnant. I get why she has to stick around—she’s one of the major big bads—but she’s almost never used in an interesting or satisfying way anymore.

This is my opinion on the RWBY villains. For Team WTCH, I wish we had actually seen them working together more… and I don’t mean just Cinder, Hazel, Tyrian, and Watts hanging out as friends. I mean actually seeing them collaborate to cause real trouble for the heroes. Yet they barely ever appear together on screen, which kind of makes the whole team feel superfluous.

Of course, ironically, Watts and Tyrian get along fine and at least tolerate Hazel compared to their outright contempt for Cinder — though that doesn’t mean they like Hazel all that much either. Either way, Cinder still ends up being hated by literally everyone lol. Like they acted like they were going to be this big elite for the heroes to fight...but they never apperar together, heck Watts never met them.

Did volume 8 make anyone else quit RWBY?

WARNING: This is gonna be me shit talking volume 8 of rwby. You don’t wanna see that, don’t read it. Simple. 

I stg this volume did everything in it’s power to make me dislike this show. Pointless squabbles amongst the cast, Ironwood becoming stupid evil villain crazy, poor fucking Penny being abused, hacked, and beaten cause RT didn’t know what to do with a maiden super robot so they just had her getting beat up all the time. 

Characters like Yang, jaune, and Ren making stupid choices and reacting like children to certain situations. Winter being made out to be this tragic figure that has lost so so much compared to Ironwood when she stays by his side until he goes crazy enough to try and drop a nuke on the city of mantle. 

Why are the stupid portal ways all connected like some weird rainbow road shit when you can just, idk, make each door way go to their own portal into vacuo? Why are Cinder and Neo even allowed to go into the portal realm? Why did they try to make Cinder out to be this tragic character with the most predictable past of having an abusive step mother? She’s still fucking evil. We’re not gonna feel bad for her when she just tried to murder Penny and then goes right back to being a bitch. 

Emerald being trusted by the group/ ‘going good’ was so rushed you can tell the M & K just wanted to use her for one thing and then drop her. 

Penny being made human just kinda throws the whole ‘even as a machine you have a soul and are alive’ thing. I swear it was just so they could have Jaune’s sword be covered in actual blood instead of her green blood instead. 

And then there’s Penny’s death itself my god. 

Her death scene is this: Cinder throws fire at her feet, Penny puts her guard up, puts it’s DOWN, takes her eyes OFF cinder, and Cinder one shots her with her stupid plot device Grimm arm. Jaune who let me remind you has healed mortally fatal wounds and supposedly gotten stronger ‘has no time to heal her’ and so has to kill Penny. 

Penny is killed by Jaune. I’m not even sure these two have every even been in the same scene before but hey I guess RT has a hard on for Jaune being around soon to die red heads huh? 

And then we’re made to feel all bad for Winter (Who can’t even beat up Ironwood after he just got his shit rocked like 30 minutes ago) when she becomes the winter maiden and doesn’t even stop Cinder from taking the Relic and the ‘killing’ Jaune and Weiss.  

Oh and I’m so glad Ironwood just mercs Weiss and Winter’s dad so I guess now Blake, Yang, AND Weiss’ big backstories have been wrapped up now? Just gotta wait for Ruby to find her Grimmified Mom or whatever. Or not because I have zero plans to watch volume 9. 

I swear to god man this volume was so so bad I feel bad for past me being so excited to see it that I bought a first membership. If the fandom were so good I’d block the tag all together.
