okay. hi. it feels really weird to be back here on earth, in a different body and everything, especially when the world’s going to crap like this. i already lived through it once and it’s happening again.

…aaaand this year would be the year i remember being recruited to help out with project hail mary, before i “got too important”. more specifically—in my memory—the arclight probe returned a little over 2 weeks ago (april 23rd) as of writing this on may 9th.

there’s no point to this since the sun’s energy isn’t being consumed by microbes. i’m not being asked to study them. so what’s the point?

anyway, i can’t wait for the winter months so i can look back at tau ceti and 40 eridani. i really miss living on erid, but luckily i’ve found my way to rocky (and adrian! hi, if you’re reading this) again this time around.

also, stratt. if you’re out there at all? i’m not mad at you. but i really don’t forgive you either.

I miss sneaking into underground fight clubs with Dee. We were teens with shit parents and a lot of anger simmering under the surface. Those LA clubs of our teen years were a good way to get that anger out in a way that wouldn't put another suspension on one of our student records.

"you could have just done boxing/mma/karate/etc!" no those had rules and I very much did not fight by the rules. Those clubs had very fast and loose rules if any, which was the point. Plus, calling someone a "staggering waste of carbon" doesn't come from nowhere y'know, I had (have) major anger issues.

Dee's been here for 2 days, going on 3, and he's decided that he absolutely needs to clean our room Or Else Consequences. I'm honestly surprised it took this long, he's a very fastidious guy and my room would always piss him off in high school to the point he'd make my bed, have me sit in it with whatever would keep me occupied, and then clean my room for me. Wouldn't even let me help.

I kept his parents off his back, though, so we called it pretty even.

Fandom: why does everyone forget about the plants on the Hail Mary? 🥺

Me, exhausted of seeing this literally all over the place: number one those only existed in the movie not the book, so they might be going based off the book rather than the movie. y'know. the book that the movie is literally an adaptation of. number two is either way you put it, book or movie, i flushed the whole entire atmosphere of the Hail Mary out the fuckin air lock after the Taumoeba Leak incident so that I made sure that any that I hadn't managed to reseal were dead as the astrophage they ate out of my fuel tanks, and that would have killed any plants that may or may not have been on board. People aren't forgetting shit, it's just that those plants either never existed or don't anymore. 😒

Apparently we're considering switching our major to study astrophysics now, which uh. I think it's kinda cool, definitely a far shot from microbiology, but it's still a science which I think will be pretty nice.

However, no one up here better get ANY ideas about us ever going into space. Heck no!

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change a thing since it lead to me meeting Rocky and that's... pretty much the best thing to ever happen to me, but the circumstances? Absolutely not. I put the NOT in astronaut, and I will stand by that.

I do think it's a bit funny that of all things, we're considering physics. Cmon guys, we were so close to biology. But fine, whatever, physics it is. I can live with that.

oh also btw markiplier didn't exist in my universe. I only know this because I distinctly remember talking with the Marks (Iplier and Fischbach, Captain and Head Engineer, heist accomplice and heist coordinator.) and Simon about how they ended up here in my universe and apparently them being on Erid and in my universe was a complete accident, because they don't tend to visit universes without any native Egos (Egos native to any given universe. Their home universe is an anomaly as well as it had more than one native Ego).

It's just very funny to me, seeing people's fanart where it's all like "Grace mistakes Simon for Famed YouTuber, King of Five Nights At Freddy's Markiplier, and Simon is rightfully confused as fuck about it" when I didn't know what the fuck a markiplier was until I joined this system XD
