Would Ryuga ever consider courting Sayu if it weren’t for Light and L’s relationship already existing in SHH?
Unfortunately, I have this (completely baseless, but there you go) headcanon that Ryuga Hideki is cowardly. I don’t know where this ever came from but I realize I’ve had it for a long time. So no…in the universe of SHH, he wouldn’t. He needed that boost from L and Light’s courage to take that leap into honestly considering it. He would have found her pretty and charming but he would never have considered actually pursuing anything with her, for fear of the societal repercussions. That being said, he does have some guts to pursue her even now. It’s not like L and Light erased (or even really significantly reduced?) the societal stigma surrounding classes mixing in their world. So….I guess I don’t headcanon Ryuga Hideki as cowardly so much as…insecure? Lacking in independence? I’m having trouble finding the word I’m looking for. I’ve been awake for far too many hours at this point. But there you go, anon! Thank you so much for the ask!
