Toothbrush

Written for @lawlightweek2026 Day 5: Love 1.8k words Read on AO3 Light would like L to keep a toothbrush at his place; L would very much like to not.

They’ve been sleeping together for nearly a year when Light floats the idea.

“You could leave a toothbrush here,” he suggests. “Instead of always borrowing mine.”

The truth is ‘borrowing’ is a bit of a euphemism. Light can’t stand the concept of someone using his own toothbrush, so he’s been lending L the ones he has lying around for guests. L is, however, his only regular guest, so he’s been buying toothbrushes specifically for him. It’s starting to get a little expensive and environmentally destructive.

The problem is that L keeps throwing them out immediately after using them. Light can’t imagine why he’s doing this other than to avoid the intimacy of having a toothbrush at someone else’s place.
