i think one of my favorite things about blue period is how it raises the question of "is passion really worth it at the cost of sacrificing yourself?"
Happy transgender visibility week to my fav transgender characters!

Yaguchi Yatora & Yuka Ryuuji & Mori Maru & Takahashi Yotasuke ; Blue Period ☆ Bandai
Is the blue period fandom alive or no?? Like, guys is anyone out there??
i feel like yatora really likes art as a concept but yuka likes how it is in practice. yatora loves conceptual art and yatora loves thinking about the meanings behind certain/his pieces [he expresses himself in art, or at least in theory prefers to, and gives himself a practical purpose, he treats his body as a vessel for art, he had always struggled with self-expression and identity] but yuka prefers their fashion sketches and prefers not going to university [she expresses herself in reality, or at least in theory prefers to, and gives art a practical purpose, which doesn’t stop it from being enjoyable to him nonetheless] and yuka likes the history behind vermillion and oil paint, brushes, art supplies, et cetera. they contrast so nicely in this. and when they slip out of their preferences; yatora ruining the self-expression behind his art by losing the identity in his art pieces, yuka ruining the self-expression behind her reality by conforming—they can drag eachother back into it, hence odawara. yatora reminds yuka they’d "rather die than conform", and yuka reminds yatora why he paints in the first place. and they ground eachother so well. anyways i’m not okay about them. not okay.
