Oooh I’m interested in what you’ll think of FE14 keep us updated! ;]
I certainly will do. Live-blogging is fun and I’ve set myself the target that for every criticism, I also have to say something nice.

You are so.... TALL
I’m pretty average by your Dutch standards though! One of my housemates in Utrecht was like 205cm or something

¿Over here we have seriously 0 mosquitos this time of year?
THEN EXPLAIN THE BITES AND FURTHERMORE THE MOSQUITOS I SEE/HEAR BUZZING AROUND EVERY EVENING/NIGHT
Clearly the mosquito population of the Netherlands is concentrated to my bedroom or something?
It’s okay though I just bought a giant electric swatter and some spray, IT ENDS TONIGHT

Studenten der Nederlandse taal moeten te allen tijde pogen haar meest complexe grammatica te begrijpen te hunner voordele, teneinde in staat te zijn de betekenis van zelfs de meest pretentieuze zinnen te ontrafelen.
(Achhh doe eens normaal, joh)
stifling, to galumph, tergiversation I'm curious what you'll find
Mkay
stiflingFrench: étouffant, I knew this one already woopDutch: Won’t pretend I knew this one, though dictionary says it’s verstikkend which makes sense and would have said if you’d asked for ‘suffocating’, which is more or less the same thing I guessItalian: umm soffocante, I suppose? Though I’m not sure how well that covers the less literal sense of it (same for verstikkend actually)
to galumph is interesting as it was invented by Lewis Carroll for the poem Jabberwocky. I happen to know that poem by heart in English, French and Dutch, so:French: galompherDutch: it… isn’t actually translated in any of the Dutch versions, the sentence is reformulated. Um. I guess you could say ‘onhandig rennen’ to define it, but… ehItalian: Looking up the Italian version of Jabberwocky gives… galonfare. Creative.
tergiversation:French: …tergiversation, I assume.Dutch: Dictionary gives verandering but that’s terribly boring and is just ‘change’, as you (obviously) know. Further research tells me that ‘tergiversatie’ exists and gives uitvlucht, draling and draaierij as synonyms. What do you think?Italian: …tergiversazione
