Books I recently checked out of the library

Cold Eternity by S.A Barnes- I read another book by this author before. I believe it was called Dead Silence. Mixing science fiction and horror elements is something that works for me. I think I need to read more book by this author because she has cool ass ideas and explores interesting topics. I have already finished with this book. Good stuff.

Magic for Liars by Sarah Gailey- I have also read other books by this author and I need to read more. This book has an interesting plot and I do like reading about characters who are twins as I am a twin.

The Annual Migration of Clouds by Premee Mohamed- Pretty sure I found out this book by looking at a list of dystopian books and finding this at my local library. Books wracked with climate change/disaster are normally a bummer to read but there is an element in it that appeals to me.

The Elsewhere Express by Samantha Sotto Yambao- I read Watermoon a month ago and I decided I should out the author's other work. I just hope it's not too similar to her previous work but I don't think it would be.

Yesterday by Felicia Yap- I think this is another book that I found while looking a dystopian book list and finding this in a local library. Only remembering yesterday and or having a limited memory is just a fascinating topic to explore.

HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD!!

This book had a bit more space horror than Ghost Station. I liked it and almost couldn't put it down. 

Katerina was...she was undecisive. Now, I could put on the fact that she sleep deprived and locked in with an unknown alien that ate the people that were frozen in cryostatis and messing with her. But at times, I wanted to yell at her when she made stupid decisions. Or when she forgot facts that were stated a mere moments ago, or when she couldn't connect the dots. Do not get me started on her going back and forth between wanting to save people or running away in mere seconds. Choose! 

Even I figure out that Zale was probably still alive in the first half of the book. Not in the way I expected him to be, but still. 

Don't get me started on her people pleaser and skeptical about aliens or the supernatural personality. Like, girl! You had proof. There isn't always a rational explanation for things. Humans love it when there is, but sometimes there just isn't.

I'm perhaps too harsh, but she annoyed me at times. 

Again, the author tried to stick romance into the book. This time, the potiential interest was Aleyk, a literal hologram that had the mind and personality of Zale's son, who he used for blood transfusions and killed him to stay young. Best way to describe it.

I want to say it was because Katerina had no one besides, Karl (he doesn't count) as the only alive and human company on the cryo station(?) She latched onto him when he showed his true self and they had a bit of shitty parent bonding. And I guess it doesn't help that he helped her by giving her information and defeating his alien possesed father.

Ending was...anticliamatic. Katerina is basically back when she started before she got into the whole political scandal. But I guess she's happier and wiser now? Hopefully.

The antogonist was interesting. A parasitic alien that took over a rich guy (who willing sacrified himself to said alien) who was obssesed with youth and living forever. So much so that he killed his own family. Very interesting. And like I said, the horror was much better. 

Perfectly satisfied my space horror in an isolated setting itch.

Hoepfully this review makes some kind of sense because I had a lot of thoughts and I don't write them down while reading.
