Just took a lap because I realized in the pilot episode of IWTV as Daniel is reading Louis’ letter to him the “come to me” music is playing in the background. Because it’s literally a vampire telling someone to come to them.

I’ve seen this show over 20 times and I’m literally just now realizing that. The genius of this show is in these little things you pick up even on your 20th watch.

god, pilots are always so different from what the end product of a show is. truly, the pilot is the epitome of, well… The Pilot from the series: it’s a show about nothing. they get coffee (not decaf!) and go to the laundromat (George literally says “this is the dullest moment of my life”). at one point Jerry is just watching the game on TV. as they say, that’s a show! why will people watch it? because it’s on TV. the pilot tested really poorly— they called it “too New York, too Jewish” and actually said “why are they interrupting the stand-up for these stupid stories?”. that one boggles the mind, because his stand-up is so terrible.

those “stupid stories” would go on to last nine seasons and become one of the biggest pop culture hits of all time, influencing American vocabulary, inventing holidays, and going out at the top of the charts— something only two other shows had ever done.
