I’m a few episodes ahead of Lucky Strikes but I forgot to talk about how much I enjoyed it! Bringing back such an infamous unsub was very cool.
Penelope: You stayed behind cause of me didn't you? JJ: Emily and I were worried.
okay but what if the ood hadn’t helped, hadn’t shown the doctor the universe and what if tecteun had come back uninterrupted, the doctor refusing the offer to save the universe in exchange for their memories (they could be so much more if only they knew) and making to run away but they couldn’t - didn’t make it out in time and it’s not like tecteun doesn’t know what to do (not like she hasn’t repeated this process tens, hundreds, thousands of times) and wipes the doctors memories (she says that they are dangerous because of their ability to give people hope, to make them think about where they are and that is scary but it can be so easily turned around as well, made into something evil) and now she’s got the doctor on her side, the strongest force in the universe (beyond space, beyond time, a fundamental fixed point in this universe that should not be but still is). and they can restore balance in the universe now (the doctor is on their side for now but they are not foolish enough to assume it will stay that way) and with the doctor’s help all is possible and all can be done (the doctor aids in cleaning up the mess they had created, it is all their fault, this is their penance) and in the end in the last fragments of the universe (the earth is left for last and as the doctor sits and watches the flux destroy the planet they can’t quite remember why but they feel a wave of sadness rush over them as they watch until there is nothing left but ashes and dust)
