having Dany go mad and burn King’s Landing isn’t really what I wanted to happen but I think the main reason I’m upset with it is that it wasn’t built up enough and felt far too sudden.
I think that in the books (because surely this will have to happen in the books) it won’t feel as sudden/jarring/flat-out wrong as it does in the show because it will be more gradually developed with little things snowballing into her snapping and burning the city.
even if it is better developed and more natural in the books I don’t think I’ll love it but I do understand why grrm would choose this ending for Dany, especially if the story ends with Jon as king (which seems increasingly likely as time goes on) since there’s no way he’d take power with her still alive.
