1158 -- par is born in rall elorim
par’s father leaves shortly after he’s born, he grows up with his mother and two older sisters, they are raised to believe in the long trail, that each person is born into a specific life to experience for the one, some people are born to be kings and others born to be peasants,
1167 -- (9) par begins stealing from the club he works at
as soon as he is old enough he starts work at the gentleman’s club that his mother and sisters work at. his constant exposure to wealth leads him to become disillusioned with the teachings of the long trail. he begins to steal from the club’s patrons and becomes very good at sneaking around without getting caught. most of the things he steals he pawns for money, but he collects fancy jewelry.
1169 -- (11) par burns down the club, meets lift
when par finds out that a patron at the club has been regularly abusing his eldest sister, he sneaks into the man’s private room and kills him. although he’s usually quite good at sneaking around, he’s caught before he can get rid of the evidence. his family is horrified at what he’s done and disavows his actions, hoping not to lose their livelihood. par doesn’t understand why they feel that way when he did this for them, and he feels betrayed. his family loses their jobs anyways. par is arrested, but escapes. he burns the club down and runs away.
while living on the streets, par meets lift. as they’re both excellent thieves, they bond quickly and perform several heists together. par begins to feel like she is his real family.
1170 -- (12) lift leaves rall elorim, par falls in w bad crowd
after more than a year together, lift leaves suddenly and without saying goodbye. par is alone and adrift. he ends up falling in with another group of thieves, and then eventually assassins. while he doesn’t have much fighting experience, they take him in to train him.
1172 -- (14) par’s first contract kill
par is a swordsman prodigy. he has a natural grace that makes him very skilled at stealth and swordplay. after two years of training, he’s ready to take on contract killing. though he’s very nervous, he finds the job to be incredibly easy and not unlike his first kill at the club, though this time he makes a clean escape.
1173 -- (15) true desolation begins, par begins relationship w zhi
when the everstorm comes, there is chaos everywhere, but there is still plenty of work to be done. par becomes something of a golden boy among the guild of assassins he works for. he becomes popular among his cohort and starts a relationship w zhi, a fellow assassin.
1174 -- (16) iri sides w fused
when iri allies with the fused, some normalcy is reestablished in rall elorim. par realizes that the rest of his cohort do not genuinely care about him, and the competitive nature of their profession drives them to constantly attempt to undermine him. even his relationship w zhi is simply an outlet for them both to manage the stress of their profession and she does not genuinely like or care about him. as a result he becomes withdrawn and distrustful, which the others interpret as arrogance.
1175 -- (17) contest of champions
[i have to look up the terms of the contest in row again, but iirc iri is largely unaffected? either way iri is going to remain fused territory right? nothing notable in par’s personal life this year, just living through major historical events]
1177 -- (19) par takes contract to kill moash, moash recruits him
by this point par has started taking more and more difficult and dangerous contracts without any regard for his own safety. he simply does not care about anything. the guild he works for has expanded some since the dissolution of those of no name. par takes a contract to kill moash. moash beats him easily, using division to rust one of his twin swords. he is impressed w par’s abilities, namely that par was able to sneak up on him. moash invites par to join light in shadow, but par refuses and moash lets him go.
when par returns to his guild, the rest of his cohort seems giddy that he has finally failed on a contract and the higher ups threaten to discipline him for his failure. par is suddenly struck by how stupid and petty they all are, and he resents that he let inertia guide his life for the past seven or so years. he leaves and returns to light in shadow to join.
1179 -- (21) par bonds fry and becomes a dustbringer
without a world crisis putting pressure on everyone, the process of becoming a radiant takes more consideration and training. there’s some debate before par finds a bond about whether he will be an edgedancer or a dustbringer. moash takes on training par personally when he bonds fry.
1185 -- (27) moash appoints par as ambassador to urithiru [stormlight 6]
after many years of training, par has stalled out at the third ideal. eventually diplomatic negotiations begin between light in shadow and the knights radiant, primarily concerning the use of the oathgate in rall elorim. par accompanies moash to the first official meeting. moash is not well received, as kholins still head the coalition. as moash is unable to represent light in shadow himself, he appoints par as ambassador to urithiru. his hope is that par will have an opportunity to fully engage with his ideals of self mastery in this role, train himself in patience and diplomacy, and push himself towards achieving the higher ideals of their order
