If memory serves, I think it was Vlad’s father, a planetwide-famous textile artisan, that was called ‘Masters’ or something as a title, which Vlad inherited. Or maybe it was Vlad himself! I honestly can’t remember; I’d have to doublecheck. For now, here’s the tag for him!

oh shit yeah it would be a really convenient way for vlad and danielle to escape dicey situations when theyre nomading it up across the galaxy hhhhhhhhhhhhh
maybe danielles not that great at it but she can do it more subtly so that people dont notice her thick accent when shes talking... i think one of the headcanons for her was that she picks up languages really quickly (both space au and for the regular series) so that would be a fun add-on

yeah, vlads name works, but in this post i said 'masters' is vlad's father, a completely non-canon character i made up for space au as a reason for vlad's nobility, and also to simultaneously include the 'masters' name while sticking with the naming convention i ALSO headcanoned (which is that halphas dont have last names).
this au is headcanons on top of headcanons tangling into one huge handwavey clusterfuck in order to be logically consistent. its becoming a problem and i think im making it harder than it needs to be. so you can ignore me and come up with your own thing if you want haha
Hello! I was wondering, since Vlad won't be the villain in the Space AU then is anyone else going to be the main villain (like Pariah Dark or something) or is it more of a 'minor villain of the day' kind of set up? I can imagine Skulker still being an obsessive hunter type character since Halfas would be super rare now and he'd be hell bent on collecting one (although I don't know what his drive would be in this case unless he ran some kind of zoo on his home planet or something?) Just curious!
yeah i was thinking more 'minor villain of the day', like how most of the show was set up, if only because theres so many different directions to take this au and so many things you could choose to focus on.
but if youre looking for a 'Big Bad' type of character, i think walker is currently in the best position for that sort of thing as of right now. (freakshow is a close second, simply because hes planned to show up for more than one separate plot event, but hes not as influential on as large of a scale idk). skulker is still a bounty hunter, and maybe he is walkers sometimes-henchman. and i think there was some theory floating around that pariah was walker's source of inspiration for his politics or something? but pariah dark is dead in this au, or at least out of commission somehow. lets just say hes 'not immediately plot-relevant' haha. as for dan, i imagine he ends up as some halpha that went feral but is trapped in the ghost zone, along with most of the rest of the halphas that werent killed by the disasteroid. maybe he shows up later.
theres a lot of ways to imagine 'things going wrong' and you can pretty much invent new planets for that purpose! there isnt anything concrete as far as conflicts go (besides danny having to keep his secret and valerie going awol at some point) so its pretty much whatever anyone wants it to be
like yeah vlads got the same base personality like hes still suave and calculating and can have quite a temper... and maybe has some skewed morals idk. but the sources of those things are different, and his emotional reactions to things maybe arent as drastic. since there wasnt that accident in college that ruined his life in the show (it was losing his son to an asteroid that caused him so many problems), theres not anything as concrete to tack blame onto to make him so... vicious or spiteful about things??? i would think he would put a lot of stuff on himself.
bottom line hes not a villain in this au. theres plenty of other potential sources of conflict so even if vlad is essentially the same character at his core, he just doesnt need to be an enemy here i guess is what im trying to say. i dont wanna screw up characterization or distort anyone beyond recognition... even space au desiree is based off of her personality from when she was alive in the show (see her backstory in the show; she seemed like a kind and caring person for at least the first part of her life!) but the circumstances in this au are different and a person would be affected by that, i think
as if there needed to be more headcanons about halpha culture but here we go anyway (dont worry its about dani and val so that makes it ok)
so we came up with that danielle was literally named 'danny' by vlad--so i came up with a cultural reason for that to be significant: no two halphas at the same time can have the same name (again, relatively few of them, with no last names to go by- it prevents confusion). so its kinda poignant that he names her after his presumably dead son. dani and danny are the same in halpha language so he literally gave her the same name, but i have been/will be using the 'dani' spelling for danielle where applicable so no one gets confused. but they have the same name).
so when danielle eventually meets up with space corps she meets danny briefly at first but hes got his disguise so she cant tell hes also a halpha (even if danny can tell that SHES a halpha, he doesnt say anything because hes still undercover at this point. no one knows except maybe the ones on his team.) but it kinda messes her up because of the one-person-can-have-this name-thing, since hes obviously older and was born/named danny before she was, even if hes an entirely different species. vlad taught her halpha culture stuff and she pretty much absorbed anything he told her like a sponge and kinda misapplies it sometimes because shes still kinda young and naïve.
im still debating if vlad told her she had a brother at all because i think it would be kinda interesting if he sort of blocked danny completely from his memory out of grief, and wrapped himself up with taking care of danielle and doting on her as if she was the son he 'never lost'. but if he DID tell dani about her 'dead' older brother, he probably couldnt bring himself to tell her what his name was.
but anyway i saw this as a good opportunity to kick off the valerie-danielle relationship in space au that i have been CRAVING hhhh im biased. so yeah valerie comes up with the nickname 'danielle' for dani use so she can continue to feel like an individual and that just means the world to danielle so she looks up to val from then onnnn
(this is before val goes rogue btw, but since she eventually calms down and rejoins space corps or something i would imagine danielle would have something to do with her coming back and ending her ragequest)
Sooo I've been thinking about Vlad and Dani in the au since I saw your answer to that ask and I'm brainstorming a little story. But I couldn't find if you've posted anything about Dani's place in this au.. like is she Vlad's actual daughter/Danny's sister? Or maybe Vlad DID still create her, using his own DNA maybe, since he though his whole species was dead - like he wanted to make sure his species lived on somehow?? And that's why he would've named her Dani (in honor of his 'dead' son?)
youre right about why he named her dani, and i put in that first post about halphas that dani is indeed vlad and desirees biological daughter, and dannys biological sister! i think its only a brief mention but its in there
ive always wanted to play journey because i loved the designs so much so im glad you guys could make the connection! since vlad and danielle are nomadic wanderers in this au i figured it would be appropriate hehe
