2. Do they have any titles? How did they get them? 

SA’IDA –– nah. she’s a farmer’s daughter she ain’t got nothin’

AHKI –– I feel like she probably has a title relative to the temple where she studied (like, she’s a consecrated cleric of avandra) but idk what it would be

21. Do they have a temper? Are they patient? What are they like when they do lose their temper? 

SA’IDA –– has a bit of a temper, yeah. she grew up with a bevy of siblings and cousins and you sort of had to stand up and be the biggest kid on the playground so to speak when shit went down so she can definitely dish shit out. but she’s also fairly easygoing and good at working with people so it doesn’t come up too often. (she’s small and sharp and furious)

AHKI –– maybe somewhere in there, yeah, but she’s like. she gets firm sure but she rarely loses her temper. she’s very stubbornly easygoing and patient.

36. What are they good at? What hobbies do they like? Can they sing? 

SA’IDA –– is an excellent sommelier. has a remarkable skill with flower crowns too, and likes to garden. the fastest of her cousins, halfway decent with needlework, and can and does sing. very rough-n-tumble cheerful sun-speckled girl.

AHKI –– is good with a story or a song. enjoys experimenting with teas and collects drinking songs/ballads. very good at meeting new people.

49. What is their most valued object? Are they sentimental? Is there something they have to take everywhere with them?

SA’IDA –– has a macguffin that’s the family inheritance that she is keeping safe. it’s part of her inheritor backstory. not sure what precisely it is but in her eyes it’s priceless and she’d do anything to keep it protected

AHKI –– probably has something from her moms that she’s kept with her all these years that she’s sure she’ll give back to them when she finds them again, but for now its sort of her talisman while she searches for them. she’s not overly sentimental, but that’s important. (she’s also got her shield, which was a gift from the prior at the temple when she became a fully ordained(?) cleric.)

“It’s alright,” she says, laughter edging her words. Still, he hesitates. There’s no true reason for it, but his feet stick in the earth and refuse to move; they grow deep roots and go to seed. Sa’ida, for her part, tilts her head to look up at him with a wry, gentle expression, more amusement than frown despite the twist of her lips.

“They won’t bite.”

His hands dip in front of him like birds at flight, irritation sharpening the motions. I know.

“Then why are you so worried?” She signs the bones of the question, hands making small circles in the air while her brow tilts.

“Crowded,” he mutters hoarsely. She blinks at him, and then at the farmhouse behind.

“Oh,” she says, and he watches her demeanor change, amusement fading away. He feels a pang a that, like a cloud passing before the sun. Her smile, though, comes softer for it. “You do not have to go in, melethel.”

You wanted me to meet your family.

“They will still be my family weeks from now, and months from now, and years from now,” she promises. “You will have plenty chance to meet them then. I am certain they will be heartbroken to learn they are stuck with me.”

He laughs, whisper-soft and warm. He cannot help himself.

“Perhaps only one or two?” she suggests in that same careful, gentle vein. Like coaxing something forth from the earth, all delicacy and patience. “Maman must come, of course, else I will never hear the end of it. And Manu is the oldest; he will want to meet you. But he is gentle as a mouse. You’ll hardly notice him.”

Does he gnaw like one as well?

“Only when there is a wager to be made,” she returns. He laughs again. She is always wringing it out of him, these tiny, drifting bubbles of unexpected joy, like sparkling wine fresh-popped and fizzing, and equally shocking. “Will that be peaceful enough? If not I will bring only Maman. She must meet you, I’m afraid.”

I am afraid as well, his hands say. Then he mutters, “Yes,” hand nodding for him in tandem. Belatedly, colored by lingering shame, he offers up, Thank you.

She catches his hand and smiles sunshine-bright, fingers tight around his as she presses up on her toes to kiss at the corner of his mouth, a there-and-gone-again brush of lips. It sets an ache deep in his chest; his empty hand clenches behind his back so he will not grab for her. “I should thank you,” she returns. “You did not have to come all this way.”

They are your family, he tells her, fingers working slowly. I would meet them.

“They will welcome you with open arms,” she promises. “But perhaps we will wait for the whole horde, non?”

Tomorrow, he offers wryly, just to watch her smile bloom again. She is so beautiful. His heart clatters against his ribs to see her happy.

“Very well,” she promises, bright and humming with good cheer. The southern sun agrees with her, and the endless fields of grapes, and the breeze that kicks up off the river hidden between the folds of the hills. She has always been bright, but never like this, in her element. At home. “But I must go get them. You will be alright here, for a moment?”

“I will be alright,” he promises. He thinks he would be alright here forever. It is nothing like the Feywild and it is nothing like the Fell dark, all dry summer sun and the smell of green and growing things and rich-dark earth, and Sa’ida’s freckles standing out as she scrunches her nose in a brief, quick grin. She squeezes his hand a moment, then lets him go.

“Don’t wander too far,” she requests, and darts for the farmhouse, skirt swinging at her ankles.

He watches her go and stays just where he is, readying himself to meet the first of her family.

sa’ida. wyrnn carries so much pain, and there’s so little she can do about those old ghosts except stand by him. she worries far more than she lets on. she just wishes she could help

2. Big spoon/Little spoon? 

sa’ida is absolutely the big spoon no matter how much taller wyrnn is. they jetpack it even if it means sa’ida wakes up with a mouthful of hair (wyrnn’s a bit of a restless sleeper so it’s easier that way. and it makes him feel safe

6. What is their favorite feature of their partner’s? 

sa’ida likes his hands, of course. hands, arms, shoulders. very good at doing things. very strong. good for holding.

wyrnn likes her face, soft eyes and soft smile and sharp little jaw. how expressive it is, like her whole life lives right there, if you know how to look. (he doesn’t in the beginning, but he learns)

16. Who wants to stay in bed just a little longer? 

sa’ida has risen with the sun her whole life and when given the opportunity will absolutely sleep in (this is fine with wyrnn, who wakes early no matter what. he likes watching her.)

17. Who says I love you first?

sa’ida. he’s still half afraid to put his heart out there when it’s still tender, fresh buds after a long, long winter. sa’ida is all summer sun; she’s sure and bright long before he blooms.

SA’IDA –– young for an elf (80-120 ish), late august, virgo

WYRNN –– also young-ish for an elf but old by human standards (150-200?), spring(?), taurus(?) [wyrnn remains a big ol’ question mark, but he feels like an easygoing spring type beneath all the Tragedy™]1

SA’IDA –– has pointy elf ears, but that’s all

WYRNN –– also has pointy elf ears and I feel like his eyes might do funky eladrin things but besides that, nada

SA’IDA –– definitely has something from home but idk what. a bottle of wine, maybe. she’s saving it for a special occasion

WYRNN –– has keepsakes from his old party, but he doesn’t quite know what they are; he just knows they’re unspeakably important. he keeps them in his bag (stuff like a bit of cloth, a ring, a lock of hair, etc)

29. What was childhood like?

SA’IDA –– busy, but good. rough and tumble. lots of hard work and a lot of siblings, and she very much enjoyed it.

WYRNN –– he doesn’t remember it particularly well. good. nothing special, as far as he’s concerned. his family loved him, he’s sure.

36. What are they like as a partner?

SA’IDA –– patient, understanding, a little teasing but in a quiet way. supportive. hesitant at first, but fiercely loyal once everyone knows where they stand

WYRNN –– rock solid. surprisingly fun and flirty. protective, sometimes to a fault. the kind of guy who worships the ground his s/o walks on. skilled ;)

42. What’s the dumbest thing your character’s done?

SA’IDA –– she doesn’t think it’s dumb, but her family thinks her leaving home is pointless. this is what happens when you send someone off to get an education; they start getting ideas

3. Brothers, sisters? Who do they like? Why? What do they despise about their siblings? 

she grew up with a sort of Big Farm Family, so there were definitely a number of siblings (and cousins) among whom she was middle-ish. they were like any other family with a bunch of kids, really: sometimes they got along and sometimes they didn’t, and some of them had favorites, and when push came to shove they all banded together and got shit done. mostly they spent their days working together, and playing together, and pranking Auber who was the oldest and had a stick up his ass and needed the reminder to chill out

(also like any family there were things they hated about each other, but sa’ida wouldn’t say she despised any of her siblings)

4. What type of discipline was your character subjected to at home? Strict? Lenient? 

haphazard, and kindly-meant. her parents and aunts and uncles are hardworking folk and good in a brusque, practical sort of way. they mean well, but they’ve also seen very little of the world outside their hamlet, so things get a little skewed sometimes. (she’s had her fair share of knuckle bruisings, but nothing harmful, or long-lasting, or without a clear explanation of what was wrong and what could be done better in the future.)

10. Is your character street-smart, book-smart, intelligent, intellectual, slow-witted? 

generally intelligent but not intellectual, quick but with a limited schooling and an incomplete grasp of how exactly to study. she was homeschooled, mostly, except for a brief stint at a proper Wizard School to teach her how to control her rather unwieldy tendency to call down lightning on blue and cloudless days. she really only stayed long enough to gain the most basic understanding of and control over her power; her family didn’t have the funds to continue her schooling. she enjoys learning, but she’s not the best with books and studying; she learns best by watching and doing.

32. How does your character react to stress situations? Defensively? Aggressively? Evasively? 

she tends to get pretty ball-up-your-fists stubborn. she learned it mostly from standing her ground among a bevy of siblings, and much as she strives for patience it does tend to get the better of her every now and then. (she’s also an angry crier, but don’t let that fool you––she can and will electrocute you at thirty feet while crying if need be) 

47. Do they want to project an image of a younger, older, more important person? Does they want to be visible or invisible?

she doesn’t much think of it. growing up she was always Part Of A Group––her siblings, and then her class at school, and then her siblings again (and more broadly her family in general). she’s always been on the small side, and people tend to think of her as young and fragile, which. young sure, but fragile? not so much. either way, she enjoys being part of something without having to stand out.

VESPER –– low-impact but well thought out and centered around an actual Activity. a museum, a show, poking around a flea market, going to a bookstore, cooking together. something that doesn’t require a lot of stress but enjoyable on its own and better with a partner

SA’IDA –– show her something she’s never seen before and she’ll be all wide-eyed wonder. or a really good meal

BEX –– a show, a concert, a local event™; something high-energy and exciting but not particularly fancy

VESPER –– anticlimactic. it was with someone she liked, more or less, mostly because they were interested and she thought she should. between the sense of obligation and the secretive nature of any circle trysts it was unsatisfying all around

SA’IDA –– fumbling but sweet. a little scary at first, and then funny more than anything. lots of hushed giggling. she liked him before, and she liked him even more afterwards.

BEX –– she had no idea what she was doing but damn if she wasn’t into it. her girlfriend at the time was very patient, and also very into her, so it was fine

💔 What was my muse’s first heartbreak? 

VESPER –– her family casting her out. (she’s never been into anyone enough to have her heart broken by them)

SA’IDA –– honestly I don’t know. she’s still pretty young; she might not have experienced real heartbreak yet.

BEX –– her first girlfriend broke up with her. it was kind of a mutually-agreed-upon thing––bex was signing up to join the alliance and rosa wasn’t and they knew things were going to end, but they ended messier than either of them planned and it hurt for a while after that. (“we both know you won’t come back for me,” rosa said, and it was true, and it was all the more terrible for that.)

VESPER –– sitting near someone just barely touching, a knee or an elbow or a shoulder. sharing things that are important to her. accepting support. admitting vulnerability. laughter.

SA’IDA –– learning (about them, or something important to them, or something that will help). gift-giving. emotional support.

BEX –– being supportive (emotional support, physical support, helping you kill your deadbeat dad support, anything). gift giving/better equipment. shared quality time. (bex, in fairness, loves a whole lot of people a whole lot and is fiercely protective of her crew, she’s just not great at actually saying “I love you”)
