Day 2 - April 16th - We Need Supplies
Ransom: "I think there's a convenience store a block or so from here," Ransom said, following after Jameson. "Potato chips and soda aren't the best options, but they're better than nothing, and there might be a gun in there, at least, behind the counter. We could make some weapons if we find the right things, too. " He hoped they ran into a supermarket before then, however. That sounded ten times better than a local 7-11.
Seth: "It's true. Davenport's is near. I doubt everything is intact but we need provisions. and somewhere safe." Seth was tired, but he needed to keep his mind sharp. Nothing he had ever seen in mvoies prepared him for this and now all the roleplays he had been seemed like a silly joke. This was real. But it didn't mean he wasn't prepared, he knew stuff and it would be useful.
Alexis: "We need more weapons that what we already have. Finding a gun store is going to help us as well." Alexis walked with the group, keeping an eye on Basil and making sure he kept up with the group. "A few guns and knives aren't really going to help us against a huge group of... Zombies." She shook her head, still in disbelief that zombies were really walking among them.
Xavire: "Going over that way isn't such a bad idea though.. I mean, it's worth a shot." Her french accent seemed to be much thicker than what it once was. Maybe it was because she was exhausted or maybe because for once she wasn't trying to focus on keeping her voice somewhat audible. Avi was never a fan of zombie movies, they never did anything for her. Looking over at the other blonde, she nodded. "I'm sure there is probably a gun store somewhere where we can find more weapons.. or.. make some makeshift ones." Avi knew that they couldn't be picky in this situation.
Grady: "I'm honestly up for doing anything," Grady said tiredly, holding his knife. It had been a tiring day. He hadn't slept since the beginning of this all, and what food he had he had shared with people. He still had some in his sack, saving it for anyone else who was hungry. "I think...getting food is important." he suggested softly. "We haven't eaten in hours."
Bailey: Her eyes turned in the direction everyone was pointing and gesturing too. Slowly, her eyes turned upon the group. Watching them, listening. Listening to the space around them, nodding slowly. "Honestly. I don't care where we go. I'll just follow, plus.... I need food." Just at that moment, the mentioning of food, a loud gurgle sounded from her stomach. "See... it speaks."
Jameson: With a nod, Jameson kept everyone moving in the direction they were headed. He also hoped they would come across a grocery store instead of a convenience store. There would be more there than at a convenience store that this group could utilize. "The moment we see something we'll stop there, I promise." If he remembered right, Davenport's grocery store was in this direction. As he kept walking, he tried to fight off the exhaustion that was battling him. Aside from trying to keep himself awake, he wanted to get this group somewhere safely. That was his priority. As they walked on, he looked forward, nothing just yet.
Alexis: Running her fingers through her hair, Alexis sighed. Exhaustion she could handle. Being hungry? She could handle for a couple days, all thanks to her training. But, who knows how long this will take? Zombies were never supposed to be real, just something she would read in a stupid fiction book. "Does anyone even know where we are? Even if it is just a vague guess?" Knowing where they were was better than walking aimlessly.
Ransom: The sound of Bailey's stomach just reminded Ransom how hungry he was. He was starting to get lightheaded, and felt like his legs might give out soon. He knew they wouldn't, though. This feeling was familiar to him, and so it only fazed him slightly. He was more worried about Bailey and the rest of them being hungry than himself. "I have no idea," he said honesltly. He'd only been in the city since January, and he hadn't taken it upon himself to go out and explore his new surrounding. He really regretted that, now. "We have to end up somewhere if we head in this direction, though, even if it's not Davenport's. It won't be long. It can't be in a city like LA."
Seth: Seth was in the back of the group, checking. Everything seemed quiet. Until he heard something falling, probably the door of a car. "I think we need to hurry up." he said, still feeling his legs heavy because of the exhaustion. As they walked all he could think of was Piper... Trynt... Fraye... all the people that he had missing.
Xavire: "Maybe we should be just a tad quieter. " Avi said after she heard something fall as well. Avi knew she wasn't cut out for this and she wasn't going to play it out like she was. Keeping herself close to sutton as they walked, Avi let out a soft sigh. If she could have run, she would have. But she also didn't want to take a risk. "I just really want to get out of the open as soon as possible.."
Bailey: Bailey's feet dragged along, she had no effort to pick her feet up. She dragged along the back of the group with Seth, slightly just behind him. She heard the noise too, with the cock of her head. The female glanced behind her, seeing nothing in the darkness. "Black... its just black. I can't see anything..."
Grady: Grady walked in the back next to seth. He had seen him a few times at the pie hole with trynt, so he was a familiar face. Grasping hold of his knife more, he looked around and frowned. "I don't see anything else, but avi's right, we just need to get out of the open before anything gets us." He made a worried noise in his throat.
Jameson: That was something that Jameson, and he was sure the rest of the group could agree on. Nobody wanted to sit out in the open with zombies around, and with it being completely dark. Squinting in the dark, he was trying to figure out whether he could see a store in the distance, or not. "Is that something up ahead?" He asked. Looking behind him at the rest of the group he tried to get a grip on his surroundings. If he was right it could actually be the place he had been hoping they'd reach. They had been traveling long enough. "Please tell me I'm not just imagining something up ahead..."
Alexis: The second after Seth said they needed to hurry up, Alexis pulled out one of her guns and kept scanning the areas around them. There was no need for any more deaths today, and hopefully there will be no more. Looking up ahead for a brief second, she saw something in the distance. "Yeah, there is something up ahead there. It being a store or something else, I don't know."
Bailey: Eyes narrowed, as she tried to focus on what everyone was talking about. Bailey didn't have great vision, when it came to seeing long distance. She usually wore contacts, but she didn't have those now. And she had lost her glasses along the way. "I need my glasses... because I don't see anything... Do you think its the store? Because.. I could totally go for a pineapple pizza right now.." Deep down Bailey felt sorry for mentioning food, but her stomach always spoke for her.
Xavire: Avi's head perked up slightly when she heard Jameson say he saw something up a head. Squinting her eyes slightly, she took in a deep shaky breath. "You aren't the only one that sees it.. so that has to be a good sign right?" Looking over at Bailey as she mentioned food, Avi nodded. "I agree. Something to eat sounds really good right now. Let's just pray that it is a store.."
Ransom: "Whatever it is, at least we won't be outside anymore." He looked around, making sure that there weren't any zombies in sight and then glanced back to Bailey. The longer they went on, the more he worried about her. Between her hunger and the losses she suffered yesterday, she seemed worse of than the rest of them.
Grady: Grady grinned. "Guys, I think that's davenports," he was only making a guess, and he hoped he was right. "A very good sign," he looked to avi. "I could go for anything. I'm starving." He felt his stomach and as it growled, he groaned. He felt like he could eat a whole shelfull of food.
Seth: it was like a miracle, all of the sudden their spirits were illuminated and the exhaustion disappeared, he just hoped for it to be true. He was craving for something sweet, or something to drink. He'd have anything he found. They started walking slightly faster, still with their eyes peeled in the dark, expecting no shiny eyes staring at them. They were so close.
Jameson: Hope had bubbled up inside the group, and he could feel it. Everyone was feeling optimistic after catching sight of the store, and as they got closer, Grady and Jameson were proven right as Davenport's sign became noticeable. "Almost there, and then we'll get some food in us." Everything seemed okay, except suddenly there was a sound to their side, and as Jameson glanced over, it was a few zombies headed their way. Immediately putting himself in the path of Sutton, he prepared himself to attack the zombies headed their way. With a hushed whisper, "Don't shoot if you can avoid it, save your ammo if you can, and keep moving towards Davenport's, don't stop moving!" As one zombie got in close, he took the bat in hand and swung it at the zombie's head as hard as he could.
Bailey: As she tried to stare ahead of her, watching where she was going. She caught Ransom's glance, giving him a sheltered smile. Slowly, she moved up to where he was. So her pace matched his. The male had been there for Bailey, when she had heard the first broadcast. The moment hearing the two names, that meant more to her than anything, were gone. Right, now Bailey already felt gone, dead. Now, she was just waiting to die. Taking stance, beside Ransom. The metal pipe that she clung in her grasp, burned into her skin. She knew she couldn't stop though, moving on and protecting the others was more than order. Moving forward, pushing towards a zombie. Fingers clenched the coldness in her palm, swinging the metal pipe, feeling the contact it made with the walkers head.
Alexis: All hope that Alexis had when they all realized that store was Davenport was quickly crushed as zombies started to come there way. Alexis turned and trained her gun on the zombies. If they got too close to Sutton, she'd shoot. If someone was in trouble, she'd shoot. She could hear Basil growling as he tried to limp closer to Alexis, trying to help in some way.
Xavire: It was a small glimmer, and those small glimmers could honestly mean everything. Just seeing the sign for Davenport's Foods made a small smile come to her face. But that was soon replaced as her walls went up when she saw Jameson put himself in the path of sutton. Her eyes went forward and she saw them, there weren't a lot, but still. Hearing him to tell them to keep walking, That is exactly what Avi kept doing. Hearing something connect with a zombie, Avi turned her head around just as the zombie went down from the blow that Jameson had given it.
Grady: Grady took a deep breath and as the zombies started coming he managed to get one through the top of it's head without getting bit. Suprisingly, all that knife work he did at the CIA came handy. He had no time to be scared now. Not anymore. He had to continue on not for himself, but for the people in his group, for sutton, to protect them and live to see the next day.
Jameson: Glad to see that his group hadn't frozen in the face of danger, he kept moving. "Almost there." As they got closer another group of zombies became visible. "Quick, run!" This was a group too big for their own to deal with. If they could get everyone inside then they could be safe. They just needed to be inside. "Go, go, go!" Jameson called. As he ran, keeping pace with Sutton and the others, he swung his bat full force at any zombie that got close to them. When they reached the door, he pulled it open, and waited as the others made their way through. "C'mon guys!"
Alexis: "Shit." was all that Alexis could say as another group of zombies moved in on them. They were going to get closed in on fast if they don't move quickly. When Jameson told them to run, Alexis picked up Basil and, carrying him almost like a baby, ran to door. She knew she was defenseless right now but, she didn't care. She wasn't going to leave Basil behind just because he couldn't keep up with them. Alexis bolted through the door, sat Basil down and went back out through the door as more people ran in, gun in hand and her eyes trained in on the zombies.
Ransom: Ransom landed one last blow on a zombie before he started running toward the store. The wooden plank he was using gave at that moment, but luckily it still served it's purpose. Once he got inside, he dropped his broken weapon and started looking for another one, more than a little shaken by the fact that if they'd been a few feet farther away, he'd have been defenseless.
Xavire: Her heart was pounding in her chest, though it had been doing that all day. Maybe it was going just a little faster this time because the situation was becoming more dire. Hearing Jameson telling them to run, That is exactly what Avi did. The blonde started running as fast as she could. Once she was in the door, she automatically spun on her heels so that she was facing the door. Hands on knees, Avi hung her head slightly and started to try and catch her breath.
Bailey: Bailey was forcing air into her chest, as she tried to breath. The walkers were zoning in on them, and quickly. Her sneakers pressed into the pavement, as she ran for the doors. The ones Jameson was holding open. Quickly as the others stepped in making sure everyone was inside, she stopped yanking Jameson in. Fingers grabbing the door, slamming it tightly behind them.
Grady: Grady ran as soon as the word came from Jameson. Running into the shop, he panted a little and looked around. It looked like everyone had made it safe, thank god. Looking around grady thought about weapons. He had to get something better than a knife, as good as it worked. Plus, food. He had what he had saved from the pie hole, but that would only last so long.
Seth: Seth tried to push one of the counters towards the door. It was heavy but it would help them stop the damn creatures while they gathered what they needed, it was a matter of minutes before they could find another exit or entrance to the place. They needed to be quick. "I need help here, someone! The others, just gather all the stuff you can!"
Alexis: Alexis quickly ran over to Seth and helped him push the counters over to the door. It was a good idea and a quick fix for a serious problem. Those things couldn't get through the door and they can't leave till they got everything that they needed.
Jameson: Seeing his team come together and work to secure a place, Jameson nodded. "Alright, even though we've got that block, everyone get supplies in groups of two or three, just in case. Get anything you can carry. Definitely water. Let's all meet by the bathrooms when you've got your supplies, okay?"
Xavire: Avi quickly jogged over and helped Alexis and Seth push the counter infront of the door. Bathrooms, okay. Supplies than bathroom. "Right, bathrooms. sounds good." Looking at Alexis, she nodded towards one of the aisles before she started to head over to see what was down it. Hoping that the other blonde would follow her.
Bailey: Sucking in more air, she leaned against a shelf. Eyes closed, as she tried to catch her breath. Slowly pushing away from the support, her eyes opened falling upon Ransom. Taking one more deep breath, she mumbled slightly. "Do you want to go look for stuff?"
Grady: Looking to seth he gave him a small smile. "C'mon, I'm sure we can find something good," He soon was walking along an asile, hoping Seth would follow him. He grabbed waterbottles, some foods that weren't going to spoil. "Thank god we're safe for right now," he looked back to the door and ran a hand through his hair.
Ransom: "Yeah, sure," Ransom answered. He tossed her an apple and told her to eat it before ushering her toward the kitchen hoping to find some knives. He didn't want to have to resort to using something that would have to get them so close to the zombies, but they had to work with what they could, and with any luck, they could find something to attach them to to make them long range.
Jameson: Jameson glanced over at Sutton, and thought to himself that it would be good to have her along. He wouldn't let her carry much anyway, and to be honest, Jameson was more concerned at getting anything he could use for medical supplies, and things they could use for makeshift weapons. Between all of them he had complete confidence that they would gather everything they could that they needed. It didn't take him long before he gathered all the supplies that he could, and made his way with Sutton towards the bathrooms to wait for the others, and see what they had.
Seth: Seth went through the aisles with Grady, almost tasting the food they were gathering he found some juice and watter bottles and tried to carry as much as he could. He could hear the creatures gathering outside. A glass broke on the back of the establishment and he knew they didn't have much time. "Hurry up! to the bathrooms!" He hoped everyone gathered stuff, hopefully something to defend themselves with. He even got some soap, it would come in handy if they needed to make something burn or explode.
Xavire: Her eyes grazed over along the aisles. There was still stuff that she could grab, but what could she grab? She had no clue. Letting out a long sigh, Alexis and her grabbed what they could. After finding some canned fruit and some other foods, Avi and Alexis both made their way towards the bathroom. Seeing some had returned, Avi looked down at her arms. "Ahm, I found some canned foods and some water bottles. That's good qui?" She questioned before she looked around to see if any other people from their group were coming.
Bailey: Her fingers caught the apple, before sinking her teeth into the juicy fruit. She followed behind the male, the apple stuck between her teeth, holding onto it. As she pulled open drawers, searching through them. Bailey really needed to find some glasses, so her sight would be better. Closing the drawers that were useless. She came upon a drawer, yanking it open. Knifes rattled around. Pulling the apple from her mouth, "Here.. I found some." She pointed, eyes glancing at Ransom.
Grady: Grady's eyes widened at the sound of the grass breaking. Hearing Seth shout that they should go to the bathrooms, he nodded and beside seth sprinted to the bathrooms, panting as he made it there. They had made out pretty well. Canned foods, oranges, bananas, and a couple of waterbottles. Hopefully enough to eek by on.
Jameson: Hearing the glass from where he stood waiting at the bathrooms, he was glad to see Avi join them, but then he waited to see if the rest of his group could get to the in time. Jameson reached for the nearest bathroom door, flinging it open and waving the others toward him in a signal to hurry. They could worry about inventory once they were safer.
Ransom: "Good." Ransom grabbed a few of the knives but all but froze when he heard the glass break, his head turning in the direction of the sound as soon as he heard iit. "OK, we gotta go. Grab as much as you can while we're moving, but don't over do it, OK? We can't get weighed down by a bunch of things."
Bailey: Nodding quickly, she tossed the apple over her shoulder. Hearing it crumble upon the tiled floor. Eyes shifted quickly, suddenly they stopped. Gazing upon a case that hung from the wall. There in the case was an axe, meant for fire or hazards. Bailey pushed to the back of the kitchen, looking for something to break the glass. Seeing nothing, she jammed her elbow into it. It took a few hard blows before the glass broke, fingers quickly plucked at the axe. Feet pushed herself forward, back towards Ransom. Fingers grabbed his hand, pulling him towards the bathrooms for safety.
Grady: Grady waited until seth was in the bathroom and let out a sigh of releif. They were safe....for now. Or at least he figured they were. But he trusted jameson's plan and knew that as long as they listened they would be ok. After all, he knew what he was doing. if grady was the one in charge, they'd still be out there running around like scared rats.
Jameson: With everyone inside the bathroom, Jameson shut, and locked the door. He looked around at everyone, and said, "I think it's best that we stay here for the night. Let's eat, let's sleep in shifts, and then in the morning we'll work out a way to get out of here. I think it's the best option we have so far. Either way we definitely need to eat and rest." He looked at everything the group had acquired. "Once everyone's had a chance to rest up we'll start heading off to CC West. If we run out of anything, we'll raid houses along the way, but for now I think we're too tired to keep moving." Sliding down into a seated position he reached for some fruit, and began to eat. They were in for a long night, even with the rest.
