Star Seed of Me
Star Seed of Me Sacred Contract - Healing the ancestral wound of abandonment...
When I look up at the night sky, I can sometimes see where I am from. I can see the light of me twinkling just beyond the tip of the great spruce tree growing in the corner of the neighbour’s yard. Star-seed, that I am. Once upon a mystery, in a time long ago and far away, the leathered hands of a potter centred a mound of golden clay on his spinning wheel. As dragonflies dipped along the…

When you embrace your sacred contract, you are shown the possibilities of your destiny—its challenges, its wonders, its mysteries, and its inner power. If you fulfill this destiny, as challenging as it may be, after death you’ll arrive in the Upper World in a healed state, and avoid the suffering of the lower domains, where the greatest sin is having been false to your original soul contract.

Finding Your Place in the Sunshine
The most common question that comes up, and the one people ask for help with, is ”what’s my purpose?” Why do so many people want to know what their purpose is? Why are people so unhappy and frustrated by this feeling of not knowing what their purpose is? Why are people haunted by this a question of purpose, and what is this feeling of something missing, or just out of reach?
First and foremost you need to figure out what makes you happy.
Where people get stuck is not knowing what makes them happy. Purpose and happiness are inextricably linked, and the quickest and best way to get to your purpose is to find you happiness, your bliss.
The average person works 40-50 hours a week, 2000-2500 hours a year: wouldn’t it be great to spend that time doing what you love, or even like, rather than something that you loathe and makes you unhappy? Spending this much time on something that does not create happiness is truly toxic.
When we’re unhappy or depressed we’re contracting: we’re ripe and rotting and in a word, dying. When you’re on purpose you’re expanding and elevating: you’re green and growing, alive and living.
When you’re on purpose you’re expanding your consciousness, and when you’re expanding your consciousness you’re having an elevating impact on those around you, increasing the collective consciousness, and ultimately, changing the world! This is why it’s so important to be on purpose, and why so many people feel compelled to find their purpose: they want to feel alive and like they’re contributing positively and meaningfully to the whole. This is why we need to find, and be, on purpose.
The good news is, once you work out what makes you happy and what you’re passionate about, you can find a job, set up a business or do some kind of work that is in alignment with that. Interestingly, many people seem to think that being on purpose and making money are mutually exclusive.
Let me tell you that it is totally possible to translate being on purpose to an income generating activity.
I know it’s possible, I’ve seen it with thousands of people. So if you’re one of those people in a job that you hate, you feel like your life is wasting away, and your days seem so long and painful, don’t lose faith because I know it’s possible for you to find a job that’s on purpose.
People who are on purpose have happier relationships and make more money!
The kinds of choices that we make account for 40% of what makes us happy. So making choices every day that have meaning and purposes makes us happy. Expressing our creativity makes us happier, and making other people happier makes us happy! We’re happier with experiences rather than buying things. Spending money on experiences that generate lovely memories and spending money in our community make us happier. Surprisingly enough, only 10% of our happiness comes from our living conditions. Also, part of the happiness quotient is that we need to be around quality people for 6 hours of every day. Emotions are contagious so surround yourself with people who have a positive effect on you. As Deepak Chopra says, don’t spend money you don’t have to impress people you don’t like! Same goes for time,
Don’t spend what little time you have with people you don’t like or who aren’t good for you.
People sometimes do a deal with the devil. They’ll do a job just for money, because they feel like this is what they need to do to provide for their family. But if the job that you spend so much time at makes you miserable, how are you really helping your family? Doing a deal with the devil is doing a job for the sake of paying bills, at the cost of your own happiness and the happiness of the people around you.
For example, you’re ready to leave school and you know in your heart that what you really want is to become an artist. Then your parents tell you that being an artist is not a “stable” or a “safe” job, and will not provide enough income for everything that you’ll need to pay for. So you take a job that makes “enough” money, and slowly but surely you begin to get miserable. When we’re not fulfilled in our own lives, we start looking for fulfilment from things outside of ourselves such as possessions, luxuries and indulgences we never knew we needed, until now. And of course now there is never enough money to get those things you need to finally make you feel happy. This creates a vicious cycle because you think you need more stuff, but this stuff can’t give you the fulfilment you’re looking for. The sooner you realise this, the sooner you can stop buying all that expensive stuff you don’t actually need. By the way, the ego wants to keep you on this hamster wheel, but that’s a topic for another post.
Happiness is an inside job. Being of service will lead you to your purpose.
Set your life up around what you love. If you happen to get a Ferrari from doing what you love, you’ll actually appreciate it.
People speak about having it all. Let me level with you: you can’t have it all. In fact, do you really want it all? In having it all, the perfect job, the perfect house, the perfect schooling, the perfect everything, you’re probably going to have to do a deal with the devil. Have you ever noticed how people with too much money seem to have a lot of problems? Similarly, people with not enough money also suffer!
Very rich people think about money all the time, and very poor people think about money all the time.
What you really want is enough to make it possible for you to be on purpose all the time, where being on purpose means spending time with your loved ones, doing things you love, together. If you think your family wants you to work harder to make more money, you’re probably wrong. Most probably they want you to be around more so that they can spend more time with you!
A balanced life is having a purposeful life. You need to work out what the balance is for you to having a happy life. You need to make time for the things that make you happy. Being able to live a life of purpose means fitting your work around those things that make you happy and keep you on purpose. Mostly people get this the wrong way around and try to squeeze all the meaningful stuff around their work, which means that all the important stuff often ends up falling by the wayside.
There is nothing more inspiring and beautiful than watching someone do something that they love. Whether it’s a child absorbed in their favourite hobby, sport or playing with their favourite toy. There’s so much joy and happiness in that activity, and that joy is contagious. Similarly, there’s nothing more miserable and depressing than watching someone do something that they hate.
Career dissatisfaction is the biggest happiness killer.
Did you know that people experience their boss ignoring them as worse than their boss criticizing them? This is where your 6 hours-worth of quality people each day becomes important. We humans are social beings and much of our happiness comes from healthy and satisfying relationships.
If you’re getting confused between goals, means and purpose let’s look at Mother Theresa as an example. Mother Theresa’s purpose, if I may make a guess, was almost certainly to be of service to humanity and to God. Her goal to achieving this purpose was to take care of the poor, sick and disadvantaged. Her means was acting on her goals: she did help the poor, sick and disadvantaged. And you know what Mother Theresa said about work:
“To work without love is slavery”
Slavery and happiness are fundamentally incompatible. So, your purpose is your passion and your passion is your purpose. Being of service will lead you to your purpose.
At http://spiritrebels.com.au/finding-your-place-in-the-sunshine/ is a 7 Minute Meditation that will help you feel into your purpose. It might be handy to have a journal close by where you can write down any thoughts, inspirations or epiphanies.
“Inside each and every one of us is our one, true authentic swing. Something we was born with. Something that’s ours and ours alone. Something that can’t be learned… something that’s got to be remembered”
Legend of Bagger Vance (2000)
I believe that before we’re born, we choose to come here to Earth, to this Life. We are sent here for a particular reason and we have a sacred contract. We know it when we’re born and we know it when we’re young, but as we get older we slowly forget it. Yet even as we forget, we are unconsciously drawn to situations, activities, and receive signs, whether we notice them or not. A lighting moment is an enlightening moment, and through this story that I share with you, hopefully you will also remember your lighting moments that were enlightening moments; moments that have been checkpoints or reminders of who you are and what you’re meant to be doing here. So if I could, I’d like to share my own journey to finding my purpose in the hope that it will help you reflect on your own journey, what you’ve been through and how you can link it all together so that it’s crystal clear what you’ve been sent here to do. I left school at the end of the first term of year 11, and after having gone to five high schools, I knew that school just wasn’t for me. I was supposed to be doing something else. So I got a job doing telemarketing and became the best telemarketer in the company, and I was finally good at something. The reason I went for a sales job in the first place was because I had been selling and marketing dance parties and events and I knew that I was really good at sales. Next up I did door-to-door sales because I love people and I love talking to people. For most people, if you had to tick a box for whether you’d prefer to do door-to-door sales or die, most people would choose ‘die’. I found that what I loved most was having conversations with people and leaving them happier than they’d been before, and glad that we’d both met each other. So, I was working for Foxtel selling it door-to-door, and after many years of being the best, I’d finally had such a gut-full of talking about Foxtel that I thought if I had to talk about Foxtel for another moment, I would vomit. I found I was talking to people about Foxtel when, it seemed to me, what the people needed was so much more. I was banging on the door talking to people, which is what I loved, but what I was sharing was the wrong message. I was outside of who and what I was. So I had an epiphany. I was wearing the wrong uniform; I was performing the wrong role. Although I had had this epiphany that I wasn’t meant to be selling Foxtel any more, I didn’t know what else I should be doing instead! The lightning bolt had happened but the enlightening moment had not occurred! So I quit my job, sat on the lounge for a couple of months and thought “what am I supposed to be doing with my life?’’ I was sure that I’m here to do something amazing; that I’m here to do something that helps people. During this time, the only job interview I went to, and the only job I didn’t get, was installing shop front displays: I was sitting there thinking ‘’I don’t want this job’’, so I obviously didn’t get it. Somehow I was trusting that I would find what I’m meant to do. I knew that if followed my heart something would show up. Looking through the paper one day, a particular ad jumped out saying “we’re looking for success coaches’’ I wasn’t feeling very successful at that moment I decided I should go for the job. The job was being a contractor, setting up my own business and becoming a coach for a personal development company. I sat in my first seminar and had one of the most intense lightning bolt moments of enlightenment, and this time they came at the same time! It was a feeling of coming home to who I really was, who I had always been, and who I was meant to be. I realised that it’s not about becoming someone else, but becoming who you are. I had to unlearn everything I wasn’t, and get back connected to who I was and had always been. I started being a life and success coach and became very successful very quickly. I knew from that very first moment, when I sat in that first seminar, that this was what I was meant to do with my life. I was addicted to drugs when I was 16 and had been to 5 funerals by the time I was 18. I lost many of my closest friends to drugs or drug related deaths from car accidents, suicides or over doses. So when I was sitting on that lounge having no job and not knowing what I was supposed to do, I knew I did not want those deaths to have been in vain. I wanted to honour those friends and do everything in my power to stop as many people as possible going through what me and my friends had been through. I was so grateful that I’d survived because I could easily have been one of those who didn’t. I had been to the edge of life already many many times by the age of 18, and it does sound cliché, but when you know your day could be your last, you live life with incredible richness and fullness. Still, the the learning had not occurred. I knew I was on the right track, and I knew that everything had been leading me to be sitting in that seminar. I would be changing my life, and would help other people change their lives, and I could even change the world in my own small way. So my work, to this day, is dedicated to my family for keeping me alive, my friends who kept me alive and protected me, and is dedicated to all my friends who died. I made a promise that I would live a life of purpose, and make my life count. When you’re on purpose it does not feel like work. When you do what you love for a living, you don’t feel like you work a day in your life. I was so happy to be teaching what I needed to learn because I certainly needed to learn it. I was the 21 life coach, my boyfriend at the time was under house arrest, and I was not feeling very successful. I even rolled my eyes at myself when I told people that I’m a life coach. Funny thing was that I was just really good at it. I loved it and could do it all day every day. So in life, whenever you’re faced with a life changing decision, I ask myself, and I encourage you to ask yourself the question: “is this opportunity my place in the sunshine, my purpose, my passion. If it’s yes, do it; if it’s no, don’t do it; if it’s maybe, look into it. When you’re on your path to finding your purpose people show up to show you the way: mentors and healers, and even people who seemed horrible but really had wings on their back because they taught me such valuable lessons about what I was meant to be doing. The rest is history: I grew a multimillion dollar business, became (much to my surprise) one of Australia’s apparently best life/ success coaches, and the best marketing strategy I had was direct referrals. So for me it’s very simple: when I’m not working on my purpose, I feel depressed, stuck, and annoyed, and it’s the most uncomfortable feeling. It’s like a metaphysical head-butt, and I get ear infections for not listening and migraines from focussing on the wrong things. When I do work on purpose those ear infections and migraines miraculously disappear! You are in luck. I am a purpose finding machine for people. My purpose is to help people find their purpose. When you’re on purpose, you can never anticipate the ripple effect. Your purpose is your passion and your passion is your purpose, and you are living a life of service and working from a place of greatest good. For you, you know in your heart what you are meant to be doing here. Your purpose is like a rudder on a ship: it’s underneath the surface guiding you on your path. In the next blog, Find Your Place in the Sunshine, I will help you uncover your purpose, or if you already know what it is, this will help you clarify it. Sometimes we just get off purpose and need to reconnect with what we’re meant to be doing.
