There’s something unsettling and comforting about seeing a piece of yourself in every main character an author writes. Each main character (and love interest) that Emily Henry writes has some piece of them that feels like it was ripped from my bones. It feels like being rushed with cold water at the realization that somehow someone captured this thought, this bodily reaction you can’t name a reason for, this fear, and they do it without knowing it will cut you open and bleed your vulnerable heart. It’s beautiful and terrifying to realize the effect fiction can have on you.
