For now, here's a little info about him!
So many options given, yet none taken. Pathetic.
Sadon's reference sheets. Happy new year, everybody!
Monster Mash (AU Story): Ch 1. Welcome to the Jungle
Leere Dragmire spread her arms out like an eagle as she was next to the railing of the ship. Taking in a deep breath of the sea air, the 25 year old was cloud high for the last month of travel on the high seas. Sure, she had traveled by boat from Hyrule to Danjur for her College experience, but this was leaving for an all new continent! The tiny woman certainly brought flair to the ship, or, at least, she believed so. "Beautiful day fellas!"
"It will be beautiful as long as it doesn't storm." The captain of the boat remarked with a gruff tone. "Listen, lassie. I'm paid to take you to the island and no more. These lot," He gestured to the men who had trapping equipment. "Are looking for some kinda monster, so you be careful, ya hear?"
"Well, I'm sure there's a mystical explanation. Oh! Do you think the monster is colourful? Big? Has sharp claws?" Leere took out a journal, doing some scribbles.
"... lassie, if there is a monster on that island, I's want no dealings with it." The captain was tempted to roll his eyes at the girl's curiosity. It would get her deader than a monsoon if she went looking for that creature. "If you's wanting details, ask them trappers."
Leere went over to the men, giving them a cute smile. Captain told them to not do anything funny around a lady on the high seas. Not that Leere was unable to protect herself. "Hey boys. Any idea on the monster you want to find? I'm hoping that you can capture it alive, or at least let me study it before you capture it at all."
"Lady, we've been hired to capture it so the locals will stop fussing about some winged giant making off with their cattle." The leader of the trappers, Roan, was not about to fall prey to a pair of tits and pretty eyes. "Then, we're going to sell it to the highest bidder as a pet or whatever. Not to..." He rolled his wrist, pointing at her book. "Study it."
"Oh come now. Maybe it's more like an animal than a true monster. You'd be surprised by the difference. Say, a griffon for example. That's more of a mythical animal. Or even some dinosaur species. In fact, it's what my paper is all-"
One of the trappers yawned loudly and purposely to shut her up. "Hey Roan. You into book nerds? Maybe you should trap her next~"
Leere's enthusiasm dwindled at the piggish comment. "Anyways. I won't get in your way, but I'm going to observe."
Once the young girl had her fill of the trappers, the captain noticed her coming to sit near him again.
"Maybe tis not the best company, aye?" He asked, "Even if you do get to see dis creature, I doubt they are going to let you near it for long."
"I have traveled a long way on hearing the same tales. I had hoped to get some research before these limp dick simpletons destroy what could be something wonderful. Hyrule has plenty of 'monsters' too. True, some of them are dangerous and uncontrollable, but others are simply complex animals or people you can come to understand."
"Well, studying it or trapping it, bottom line is, you's need to be careful." The captain reminded her, "Tis new creature, right? Don't know how strong it is or what it can do. Best be cautious." He then neared the island, docking where the water was shallow. "You'll have to ride with the trappers from here on in the rowboat. I's not risking me ship."
Leere nodded, giving the captain a tip of rupees and begrudgingly got into the row boat with the trappers. When one man tried to get touchy with her, she slapped his hand away. "Don't."
"Easy tiger. Was an honest mistake."
"Sure it was."
Arriving on land, Leere had a small telescope, her notes and pencils, a compass, and few potions, and took a machete from the trappers to cut through any dense foliage. "So, I suppose whoever finds the monster first wins? Or would you prefer to work together?"
Some of the men actually laughed.
"And what are you going to do if you find it first?" Roan scoffed, as the woman swung the machete. What did she think this was? A group project? Scholars were always the most annoying to work with, always looking for answers and talking when the situation needed quiet."Ask it to sit still so you can sketch it? Lady, we're not here to watch your ass, we're here to do a job. Don't get in our way."
"Fine. When I find it first, I'll be sure to mention to imbeciles that failed to discover the creature first. Later boys. Watch as a woman beats you to the punch."
Heading into the island, Leere knew just enough survival knowledge from her parents in how to stay quiet with her steps, even with twigs beneath her. Once she figured she was far away from the men, Leere stopped and took a skull out from a carry bag. With a little chant, magic swirled into the skull, causing it to glow with light blue flames and sprout leather wings. Now that her newly created Bubble was created, Leere whispered her command to it. "Fly high and see if you can spot the monster. Come back to me if you can, or scream if you are in danger."
The Bubble cackled something non intelligible, but flew off with understanding the command. With her spell complete, Leere kept making her way deeper into the island. She hoped those trappers could see her when she succeeded.
Hours passed. There was nothing but silence. Even Leere's little skull reported no movement. The island was silent. Well, at least, this part of the island was quiet. The rest of it was unexplored, according to the charts, but the monster was seen near the beach. Supposedly, the locals which frequented the beach were complaining of it flying over and stealing cattle, pigs, and the occasional horse. It was not until the early hours of the morning that the sound of flapping wings flew over Leere's head.
Leere opened her eyes from her night's rest in a panic, glancing around. Then, for a second, she saw. It was a humanoid looking creature with wings and possibly a tail. It flew by too fast and was mostly covered by the sun's light, but it had the shape of a man, she was sure of it. From the trees fell down a feather from a bird Leere didn't recognize. "Does it have feathery wings? Am I stalking an angel?"
The young lady was quick to take out her journal and compile a sketch of a large creature with long flowing blonde hair, a streamlined tail, what she perceived as a crown on its head, and beautiful wings of an angel. She put in more time than she needed, but was satisfied with her field notes. Closing her book and tucking it away, she ran through the jungle in the direction it flew.
The creature was no angel, in fact, far from it. During the night, the trappers had the audacity to try to use a net, a cage, and then what really pissed it off was that damn whip. In the clearing, every trapper had met an untimely demise at the claws of the beast. Limbs were ripped clean off, and one unfortunate soul had been torn in half. No one was left alive. The little lady was going to get a rude awakening with all the blood and gore.
Leere smelled the blood in the air before she ever saw it. Unless conditions were cold, that scent of iron was something she was attuned to picking up. Cutting through the wilderness, she stopped running when she came across the encampment. It was the worst massacre she had ever seen. Stopping, Leere took a few breaths to compose the shock that wanted to fill her. "Whoa..."
Taking out her journal, she started making notes, talking aloud as she wrote to help focus her writing. "It appears that the monster aspect is true. It appears the creature may be an apex predator, having razor sharp claws. Or wicked strength. Has the ability to tear limbs from a human torso." She looked closer at the bodies, picking up the signs of the struggle. "There's no signs of it feasting on the hunters. Perhaps it felt threatened by them. Or they simply angered it. It must be fast enough to survive a crew of 11 men. Holy Din..." She trailed up as she saw the leader's upper torso stuck up in a tree. "Can throw bodies at great distances."
Leere decided that perhaps coming here alone was a bad, bad idea. Closing her journal, she took off through the jungle, taking out her compass to hopefully find the beach. Truthfully, in the heat of the moment, she had forgotten how deep she traveled.
The jungle was deep, but miles and miles inland was an ancient civilization full of the legendary Drakan race. Supposedly, long ago, a dragon and human fell in love and had a child. This was seen as a taboo by both their respective races. So, the lovers fled to raise their child in secret. Others soon joined them, and thus, the race of the Drakan was born centuries ago.
However, a few were tasked with keeping the borders. It was a coming of age tradition for all the Drakan. Every single youngling had to complete at least a year there to watch the borders. No outsiders left alive. As soon as Leere rounded the next palm tree, there it was...
Rather, there he was. Watching her with those glowing turquoise eyes.
Leere stood as still as stone when she saw it. It was fifty feet away, crouched in the undergrowth near a body of water. She wondered if its movements were based on sight. This far away, she couldn't get a perfect look with all the foliage, but now she had a better picture than before. It had long blue hair and skin, with glowing turquoise eyes. The wings did not have feathers as she first predicted, but were leathery like a bat. With it crotched down, she couldn't get a good judge of its size or see its other features.
Reaching for her book, Leere glanced away, very, very slowly to turn her head and hands. Grabbing a pencil, she made new notes to fix her first impressions. When she looked up from her journal, it was gone. "Oh no."
Quickly hiding behind the palm trees, Leere went to write again, but her pencil was gone. Did she drop it?
Flick. Flick. Flick.
The long tail of the beast drooped down behind Leere. Her sketches were crude, notes incorrect, and... what was that scribble about feathery wings? Was the woman blind? He had no feathers. And what was that? What the hell was a YEEET next to the drawing of a man's dismembered torso? Hylian language had certainly changed from what the library had on the island. No matter, he was a deity, learning more of the mortal realm was a nuisance, but required at this point. When he noticed the lady looking for her writing utensils, he gave a small scoff. How was the woman able to hold onto her head if she could not even manage a pencil?
That was when Leere heard a slight bonk against the tree right behind her. Slowly, she turned her head upwards. With that, she came face to face with the monster that was looming right above her as he clung to the tree. With a started yell, Leere's feet betrayed her as she tried to run away, only to slip against the leaves under feet and fall on her stomach. Turning herself around, she tried to get a sense of any bodies to raise from the dead. The trappers were too far away. On this island, away from her home continent, her Dead Hand was no help. And she wouldn't have the time to make any other conjures to help her. To top it off, she had a feeling throwing necrotic fire in its face wouldn't kill it on the spot, so why bother making it angry. Maybe those hunters had it coming? When it landed on the ground, the earth shook with its weight. It certainly looked like a man in its shape, but it was something much more reptilian.
Holding up a hand as Leere slowly backed away, leaning up so she wasn't completely on her back like a flailing turtle, the princess tried to talk it down. Maybe a soft voice would lull its aggression down. Maybe it understood common. Was surprising how many creatures did. "I'm not going to hurt you. So you don't have to hurt me."
Odd. The woman spoke with a Hylian accent, but was definitely not a Hylian. No, this was a Mortuus. This was certainly an interesting development for sure. Maybe this one was a traveler. Still, he should know, he created the Mortuus race, so it was always best to be careful around those who could summon the dead. She was fearful, good. She was trying to run... was not trying to run? This had to be it, the woman was insane, trying to talk to him? Didn't she know of the legends of the Drakan? Probably not. A talon tapped the ground impatiently as she said she was not going to hurt him. He scoffed. Laughable. Like she could ever hurt him.
"What are you doing here, woman?" The Drakan growled, taking another thunderous step forward.
Wow. He talked. She assumed it was a he. "My name is Leere Dragmire. I came here as a traveler to find... you. I wanted to study you for a paper I'm doing on exotic and mythical life. To discuses the difference between creature, monster, and a person, and what makes them different." She found herself at a dead end, coming up against another tree. Slowly standing, at least she'd stand tall if this was her end. Looking up at him, not even her father was so tall. "Those hunters wanted to hurt you. I wasn't a part of their team. I wanted to study you."
She started to feel a little more courage as the creature didn't move. Maybe with it speaking, this behemoth was from some sort of civilization, no more a monster than the Zora or a Lizaflos. "Can I ask what you are? Do you have a name?"
Well, she was not lying. He would be able to smell it if she was lying. The woman's heart, however, was thundering in her chest. This 'Leere' was afraid of him, as she should be. Any and all outsiders should be killed. Though, this one was a scholar, it seemed, only wishing to learn more. The Drakan, however, preferred to live a life of tranquility and peace... but most of all, secrecy. The rest of the world did not know about their race, and those who had, had long forgotten. Glancing at her notebook, his long tail snatched it from her hands and transferred it to his. In a flash, the journal caught fire, burning all of the notes that Leere had taken about the Drakan. Besides, it was not the right time, not yet. His power still had not returned fully.
"Leave." He commanded with a snarl, pointing with a claw to the ocean. "And do not return. I only extend this mercy once."
“Hey!!! My notes!” Leere looked flabbergasted. When the beast looked down at her with a vile menace in his eyes, Leere decided to take his advice. Running off through the jungle, she didn’t look back. Perhaps a single eye witness account was enough. She could always write by memory. Talk about how much of a danger this island was.
When she reached the shore line from where she came, a new shock came to her. One of the trappers had fled to the row boat with fatal wounds, a deep slash across the back and a gut wound. He must have collapsed at the beach front. Worse, however, was that the ship she came in on was not where it was supposed to be. Grabbing a telescope, Leere frantically looked around, finally spotting the vessel far into the ocean, it’s back to the island. The captain must have seen the body and assumed them all dead. Leere was now trapped on this island with a monster.
~
For the next hour, Leere weighed her options. She could take the row boat and paddle out into the open ocean. However, who knew if anyone would find her. It was highly improbable. No, she decided. She would have to survive on the island and hope the winged monster didn’t notice. Looking at the corpse of the trapper, Leere cast two different spells. The first was a clean fire spell to burn the flesh away. The corpse was too mangled to be of any use as a Redead, so a skeleton would have to do. With her second spell, she brought the skeleton to life.
“Nyah. What would you have me do?”
“Go out in the jungle and help me search for food.”
“Nyah. You got it my lady.”
For the next two days, Leere wandered the jungle, feasting on bugs and the odd bush when she was thirsty. In-between survival, she made notes of her discoveries and day to day survival. She was glad she had backup journals. Finally, in the heat death of the afternoon, she discovered a source of freshwater. In a grotto was a beautiful crystal clear water fall.
Giving herself a whiff, the Necromancer decided a bath couldn’t hurt as well. Stripping down, Leere was quick to bath herself, scorching down water for her parched throat.
“Bob. Keep an eye out.”
“Nyah. Will do.”
“And clean my clothes.”
“Nyah. Yes mistress.”
More hunters had arrived in search of the famed beast. Some argued it was a species never before seen, others said it was a long forgotten monster, and a few claimed it was a demon who could move through the shadows. What mattered most was the reward for the capture of the creature. The island was supposed to be uninhabited, but this beast brought forth questions, wondering what else could live there. Since Danjur could not expand there, the country had long given up, but Labrynna kept trying in search of magical mysteries. The Drakan, however, used a powerful spell to hide their cities and homes from the view of others, but it could only extend so far. That was why, the borders had to be protected from the intruders. These particular hunters were smarter than the trappers, knowing the beast was intelligent to evade capture. While there were traps in place, these were for the purpose of wounding it so it could be captured.
It was not long before Leere's peaceful bath was interrupted by screaming and a strident, enraged screech. With an echoing boom, a tree or two fell over, and then a loud explosion took place soon afterward. This was certainly more intense than the last fight.
Leere didn't have time to enjoy a good long bath. Grabbing her wrung out clothing and quickly getting dressed, she took off in the direction of the fighting. Perhaps this time she could save someone. Or at most scavenge for rations. Running up and down the foliage, she was already starting to get dirty again from the jungle undergrowth. Arriving at the battlefield, it was a massacre to be sure. More torn apart bodies, fires crackling, yet unable to spread with the wet vegetation, and blood. So much blood.
Yet, there was something new. Amongst the blood was a trial that didn't come from any of the hunters. A different colour than the crimson corn syrup. Grabbing some food from the hunters that was left over, she instructed her skeleton to start putting out fires as she investigated the blood trial.
Drakan blood usually ran silver due to the higher contents of iron in their bodies. Unfortunately, one of the hunters had caught the creature off guard with an explosion triggered trap. The shrapnel had embedded in his chest, thankfully most of his scales saved him from further damage, but it still hurt and caused immense pain. After ensuring the intruders were dead and gone, the Drakan had gone back into the jungle, limping toward his outpost. He would have flown, but was afraid the discomfort might have made him pass out mid-flight. Once he arrived at his giant treehouse, he climbed upward with a loud groan, having to take small breaks here and there before continuing. As soon as he was on the solid platform, the Drakan went to pull upward, stretching the damaged area, causing him to nearly lose his grip. With a string of curses, he finally managed to lay flat on the platform after hefting his weight upward. Taking a deep breath, he laid there for a moment before sitting up, and moving inside where his supplies were.
Leere followed the trail silently through the jungle, the noises of animals hopefully covering her approach. She was thrilled when she saw a tree fort above her, noting this was the first sign of civilization. Taking her notes, she made a quick sketch before daring to climb up the tree and explore inside. If she had to sleep, maybe there was a bed inside.
Removing shrapnel was tough work. With no numbing agent and only his claws, the Drakan started to remove piece by piece of the metal embedded into his skin. Often, he released a loud breath of relief when the metal was out and then, inhaling sharply when the pain tingled at digging out the next piece. He was so focused on being rid of the metal that he did not hear the curious human behind him. Yet, the Drakan's back was not in good shape either. While he could reach most of the places on his chest and a few on his side, the metal in his back was out of reach. His healing magic, unfortunately, had not returned to him yet, so Dhakk, trapped in the body of a Drakan, could not heal himself.
"Mother of Nayru, are you alright?"
Startled, Dhakk hit his head on the ceiling, giving a curse as his horns scrapped the wood, before spinning around with a glare to look at the woman, baring his fangs. He had told her to leave, why did she not listen?! More importantly, what in the world was she doing here?! Injured he may be, but he still had the strength to kill her.
She held her bare hands up slowly to show she was unarmed. "If you let me, I know magic that can heal you. Please, there's no use in having you bleed out. Call it an exchange for you letting me live."
"And what makes you think that I would trust a Mortuus?" Dhakk was no fool, even he knew the race of necromancers he created had turned to the darker arts, making pacts with demons and sacrificing children. "I know exactly what your kind do, manipulating the dead to be your slaves and worshiping hellspawn." He took a step forward, ready to toss her out of the treehouse for daring to be so presumptuous! "I told you, woman, to leave---!!!" Suddenly one of Dhakk's legs buckled, his head spinning from the blood loss. Damn it all, he hated being trapped in this cursed mortal body!!! Where was his immense power?! This was all Prama's fault, he'd find a way to eradicate his brother from existence if it was the last thing he ever did!
Leere frowned heavily. She didn't know what the hell a Mortuus was, but necromancy was a tool that could be used for good or evil, just like any other magic. She could feel the Zelda in her rise up once he crumpled to the ground. "Don't be stubborn. You're more hurt then you realize." Walking around him, Leere carefully grabbed the metal plate still lodged in him. "I am going to help you. I am not a child killer." She pulled on it, getting it half way out, but getting moans of pain from the creature. "I don't worship demons." Just a little more, even if he was starting to slap the wall in aggravation. "And I don't have slaves!"
Pulling the last of the metal out, Leere threw it to the ground. Quickly, she laid her hands on his wounds, and used healing blood magics to stich his wounds together and repair the damage to his body. It was a special blend of 50% naturalism magic, 48% dark magic, and 2% euphoria. Feeling tired after performing the surgery, Leere settled back onto a chair. "There we are..."
Dhakk had no idea that a piece of metal that large was lodged in his back. As she tugged, he felt his eyes watering from the screaming protests of the mortal body, unable to hold back his groans of pain. He was so tense from her tugging, that as soon as the metal was free, his entire body just slumped to the ground, twitching from the discomfort. So tired, he could barely keep his eyes open from the blood loss, all he wanted to do was sleep. It was such a foreign concept to him, needing sleep. When he was in the Void with Kaksa and Prama, he never needed sleep. Mortals were so fragile, how could they live such lives? It was not long before Dhakk passed out from the mixture of pain and forced healing, the huge Drakan asleep on the floor.
Leere felt bad for the creature as he slept. She looked around for bed, but there wasn’t one to be found. Maybe he slept upside down like a bat? Or maybe he just needed to purchase some new furniture. Whatever the case, she took her bag of softer materials and placed it under his head to act like a pillow. Satisfied, she returned to the chair, and went to sleep herself.
It was hours before Dhakk awoke once more. Thankfully, the Drakan race healed rather quickly, but trying to get energy back was difficult. He had some food in the treehouse, but had no time for hunting thanks to the trappers coming by the boat to the beach. Groaning softly, Dhakk felt like his back was still on fire, and his head was pounding, but at least, now he could move.
“Oh, you’re finally awake.” Leere had been sketching him in his sleep for the last 30 minutes, having recently woken from her nap herself. “I found out that you like to purr in your sleep, like a crocodile. Maybe below is the right word.” Showing him a picture, she smiled. “See, even your back is all healed up fine.”
Great... Dhakk had forgotten about the human. He barely had the energy to move and now, he had to deal with this pesky scholar as well? If the other Drakan found out she was on the island, regardless of the fact that she helped him, they would kill her. Why did she not leave when he ordered her to do so? Not only that, but she was back to taking her damn notes again. Didn't she learn her lesson the first time?
"I do not purr." Dhakk sounded somewhere between a mixture of embarrassed and stubborn. Biting his lip, he slowly sat upward, moving slowly to avoid becoming too dizzy. Then, he leaned against the wall of the treehouse for support, his head still throbbing. "Why are you still here?"
“Your need to flay alive every man that’s tried to bring you harm scared away the ship I came here on. And I’d die out at sea if I tried to use a tiny rowboat. So, against your judgement, I decided to stay. I only found you because you had another altercation. Good thing I did, otherwise you’d have bleed out like a poor withering octorok. I didn’t think a creature of your stature would have made a treehouse. It’s quite advanced. You have a few pieces of furniture, even storage for food, but no bed. Are you still needing to acquire one, or do devils of the jungle not require one Mr…?” When he didn’t speak, the woman crossed her arms. “Come now, I have to call you something.”
So that's why she stayed. The woman did not have a method of transportation off the island other than the rowboat. It was true, she would not last days out there on the ocean. A proper vessel was needed to get to the nearest land mass. Sighing, the Drakan felt his annoyance rising. A deity trapped in flesh, a mortal rambling, and a persistent headache from them both. If Kaksa wanted to torment him, she was doing a wonderful job of it, trapping him here where he could not get away.
"... Sadon." Dhakk gave her his host's name. There was no way he'd ever allow her to know of his true identity. It was too early and his brother could be anywhere.
“Well, let us start over. I’m Leere. Leere Dragmire. It’s a pleasure to meet you Sadon.” She reached out a tiny out to shake his monstrous one.
This was... what was this? Dhakk was trying to remember. It was a human greeting, right? The humans shook hands to check to see if the other person was... armed? His mind was so fuzzy, it was hard to think straight. Was he supposed to offer his hand now? Drakan customs were different from Mortuus'... but then again, she looked confused as to when he referred to her as a Mortuus. By the heavens, he hated interacting with mortals.
"While I am grateful for the healing," He took her hand, engulfing it, as he gave a very small shake, "You should not be here. If another one of the Drakan spots you, they will kill you; hunter or not."
“Ha! A Drakan! Now I know the name of your species! This is fantastic! You’re people shouldn’t have to worry about me though. I’m from Hyrule. I’m a Hylian.”
"... Leere, you are most certainly not a Hylian." Dhakk nearly scoffed, but the woman sounded so sure. Evidently, she had been adopted... or was a little off in the head. Maybe that's why she was here, she got a thrill from danger. Or had a death wish. He was not sure. "You are a Mortuus. I cr---have met many of your kind ages ago, and you, woman, are not Hylian, far from it. Your kind hail from the land of Malus, next to Omisha and Al-Daida."
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. My father is a wizard. I think he’d know if I was something different.” Leere didn’t seem comfortable with some stranger dropping a nugget of information on her. Looking around, she wanted to shift the conversation. “I see you don’t have a bed. If we’re going to have me stay, we’ll have to fix that.”
The comment about the bed nearly caught him off guard. His mind went straight to reproductive purposes. Well, his host's mind did. For the Drakan, a bed was used for mating if flight was not an option. Most Drakan preferred to sleep by hanging upside down, encased in their wings. Though, her staying would be a problem.
"You cannot stay here, Leere," Dhakk was not being cruel, simply stating the obvious. "The others will smell your scent here and come looking for you. It is imperative that you leave as soon as possible." Trying to scratch some dried blood off his skin, he then said, "Give me a day to recharge my magic and I'll send you off the island."
“Come now, I’m sure we can come to some sort of understanding? You can tell your people I mean no harm. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for both parties to learn about one another Sadon. And I think you owe me for saving your life here.” Leere spoke softly, trying to win the giant’s heart over. “Please?”
"No. No amount of pleading, begging, or asking will change their mind." Dhakk was not going to be responsible for the death of an innocent woman who was merely curious about the Drakan species. "They never have, never will, make an exception." He raised at eyebrow at her pleading. "Leere, you do know why the Drakan do not allow outsiders, do you?"
“Is it more or less some racist reason thats, “Oh, you’re nothing but monsters. It’s ok to hunt you. I bet they have rich valuables we can take from these savages, maybe even their scales.” Does that sound about right?”
"No." Dhakk was not too enthused by her statement, but decided to give the woman the answer she was seeking. "We are a taboo species. Half-dragon, half-human. If the purebloods knew where we were, they would kill us."
“Purebloods?”
"Fully human. Fully dragons." Dhakk supposed with the Drakans being secluded from the rest of the world, the story had been forgotten to time. "The reason why our species fled in the first place."
“Well, what’s so taboo about it? Love is love right? If a Dragon and a human loved one another and they made a species, there’s nothing wrong with that. Heck, my own mother and father broke taboos. Nothing wrong that I can see.”
"Hm, tell that to humans and dragons long ago." Dhakk actually chuckled at the woman's reasoning. Many humans did not think like she did. "The dragons hated we had their abilities. The humans hated that we were stronger. Take your pick."
“Well, I don’t have an ounce of hate in me. Maybe they can see that.” Leere felt her stomach growl. “Hey, do you have anything I can eat?”
"I am... unfamiliar with the selected diets of a Mortuus." That much was true, he did not bother to keep up with that kind of trivial thing. "If you see something edible that I have collected here, then go for it."
“I can probably eat whatever.”
"I'd suggest the fruits or dried jerky." Dhakk gestured vaguely to the food which was hanging in baskets from the high ceiling. Noticing the woman's short height, he then asked, rather bluntly, "... can you reach it?"
Leere reached up. Then she tried jumping a few times. “Come on.” Once more, she leapt a few more times. “Yeet!!!” She had bounce to her, but no results.
"Pffft..." Dhakk could not help but be amused. The tiny woman was getting frustrated by her lack of height. Using his tail, he simply slipped it around her waist and lifted her the appropriate length so she could reach the food.
“Whoa.” Leere grabbed the jerky and a banana. Setting down, she hid a tiny blush. “Your tail is smoother than expected. I’ll be sure to put that in my notes. Next time you can just… grab it for me.”
Despite mortals being irritating, Dhakk did find some of them rather cute. Then again, he was responsible for the creation of the land of Omisha, Malus, and the Chasms deep in the sea. Some of the inhabitants he crafted were unique, for sure, yet, he could not always get his creations to follow him.
"And where... is the fun in that?" Dhakk chuckled softly as he closed his eyes, still tired. "There's water in the pouch there if you require it."
“Thank you Sadon.” Leere ate her food, had her drink, then glanced about. “If you’re tired, I can let you sleep. You sure there’s no way I can hide out on the island with you?”
"No." Dhakk shook his head lightly, "They will smell you, find you, and kill you. I'll have energy after resting and consuming some meat."
Leere glanced around. “You sure we can’t make a bed? I can sleep on a couch, even the floor, but it’s no way for a lady to sleep. And is it ok if I ask more questions about you and your people, Sadon? Ones you feel comfortable disclosing?”
"Drakans only use beds for mating if flight is not an option." Dhakk stated as he flopped his tail on the floor. "This can serve as your pillow. There's a fur hanging on the wall if you're cold. Unfortunately, there are no particular bedding components since I usually hang from that branch right there." He pointed upward with a small sigh. Then with one eye cracking open, he replied in a cheeky tone. "You can ask questions all you wish, doesn't mean I will answer all of them."
Leere felt flustered as she noted what Drakan’s perfected beds for. Humour was her way to hide those pesky emotions. “Well, good thing. You probably couldn’t handle me in a tiny bed either at your size.”
Taking the fur, it was so thick it might as well have been a small mattress. “Oh this is perfect for something to lie on.” Leaning back on his tail, the woman got comfortable. “How old ARE you?”
"True, a bigger bed would be required for mating purposes between a human and a Drakan, though the differences between sizes could present a problem." Dhakk was simply being logical, not meaning to embarrass the woman further. When she started to ask how old he was, he could not help it, the Drakan gave a loud snort. "Much older than you."
“Fine. You’re 40.”
"Up quite a bit more, Leere." Dhakk thought it was rather sad that time was so fleeting for mortals. "Try the thousands."
“I see.” Really merely noted him as ancient. “Are most of your people as old?”
"Older than some, younger than others." Dhakk figured her knowing his age was not a bad thing. "Drakan live very long lives."
“That’s highly impressive. I assume you have slow reproduction. Or your people would over populate the world.”
"If you want an anatomy lesson, I could always strip for you." Dhakk was feeling like he could tease the woman a bit. It was always cute to see embarrassment.
Leere paused, tapping her pen. “If you’re comfortable with it. I’m not a prude, and a sketch would be insightful for my work.” She then cocked a slightly off smile, doing her best to not have naughty thoughts fill her. “Not that you have to. You must wear pants for a reason. I’m sure it wouldn’t be important to my work.”
"Pants keep everything from flopping around in the wind." Dhakk had no reason to keep the truth from the woman. "Otherwise, it is a bit awkward."
“Well good thing there’s a draft in here, so no need to drop the goods, ha ha ha.” Leere laughed awkwardly. Truth was, although she attended an art class, swinging dicks and open tits always made her anxious.
"Let us rest." Dhakk told Leere as his tail curled around her body. "Don't try to run about at night. Stay here until the sun rises and then, I'll help you get home."
“Hey. That’s oddly… warm.” Leere yawned, not minding the tail as a blanket. Closing her eyes, she fell into a deep slumber. As she slept, she tried moving about, troubled by bad dreams. Some nights, spirits would try to plague her dreams and turn them to nightmares. She was usually able to stop this with company at her side. This night was no different, especially with Dhakk at her side not too far away. One look at him and they fled.
Dhakk hated to fall asleep. Memories were nightmares. All he could see was Kaksa's face as he fell, how betrayed she felt, the pain he caused her. It was all an accident, he did not mean to hurt her! If only Prama had not stolen her away from him! If only he was not left all alone! Groaning softly in his sleep, Dhakk twitched slightly from the lingering aches and bad memories.
Leere turned in her sleep, her body holding onto the Drakon’s tail tightly. In her subconscious, she murmured happy thoughts.
