I Heard a Rumor

History of the Soul 101. Fucking boring if you asked him, yet he still soaked up the information like a sponge. He studied and poured over the books like they were his final meals. These classes were the only thing keeping him alive, anyway.

Sadreen put together his supplies, making sure he had his notes and his books.

"You're that weird new kid."

He closed his eyes, taking in a deep sigh before looking up to his classmate, the man in front of him far scruffier than himself. Arab, likely Islamic. Sadreen wondered if they died in the same country. "What is it that makes me weird?" His tone stayed neutral and stiff, with his rolling cadence following the words into the man's head.

The man in front of him froze for a split second before continuing. "You turn invisible whenever you want, for a start. You were also made by Kivanelle and she always makes *weird* ones. And you talk like a professor."

Sadreen smirked, sizing up the man. While human, he could have killed the man in front of him in minutes during a fight. In stealth, he would have never seen Sadreen before he was dead. His jabs came across as facts- shaken as he was by Sadreen's fruitless response to his teasing. "I do not yet have full control over my invisibility. Having such a power includes the extensive time to learn to control it. It may be a more rare ability but it is not inconceivable." He stood to his full height, standing taller than the man in front of him. "For your other claims: I do not speak like a professor. I speak as someone who chooses his words with care and strings everything together before it will come out of my mouth. And as for my creator, I did not choose to be created, as none of us did. Whatever her reputation is, I am only a victim of, not an enabler of."

The man in front of him took a moment of silence to contemplate his words and look him over at his full height. His demeanor shifted, in a way Sadreen recalled seeing a few times in his life, though he did not understand what it meant.

Sadreen took in a sharp breath as he came to be pinned to the wall by his shoulders. He had his hands on the man's chest, ready to shove him off. The man looked him over again, with more intent. "You're kind of cute."

"What?" Sadreen hissed, narrowing his eyes.

The man grinned. "Relax. I wouldn't trap a future soul worker for nefarious reasons. We're a dangerous lot."

He still growled, low in his chest. *"Then what do you want?"* He stayed poised, claws taking shape, ready to kill at a moment's notice.

The man slid a hand up to his jaw, tilting his head down a little and kissing him- more gently than not.

Sadreen froze.

Their lips together created electricity.

His mind screamed at him to make it stop.

His nerves fried and forced him to stay in place.

His body leaned into it a bit, everything else be damned.

No one else he'd ever used felt like this.

A second, still gentle kiss pressed against his lips. Hesitant, shaking, and heart pounding, he returned it.

He couldn't understand how a simple kiss tore him apart inside more than his entire career as a man.

The man backed away, grinning, almost beaming. "I don't think the rumors caught your name, would you mind fetching it for me?"

Sadreen swallowed, wishing his heart would slow down. "It's..." He licked his lips, still shaking. "Arstrean."

He wanted to die all over again.

The man's grin widened. "I'll remember that. You can call me Hassan. I'll see you around sometime, I'm sure."

He left, and Sadreen slid against the wall, sinking to the floor, head in his hands, groaning softly.

Echoing screams rebounded off high ceilings

Cages dropped open

Pedestals in spotlights

Candle lit tables and red velvet

Cinnamon and blood mixing in the air,

Scents mingling in a pleasant affair.

Deep, meltingly red champagne sparkled in my glass,

A lit cigarette dangling from my other hand.

Smoke rose to the ceiling, my eyes never leaving the pet tied to the stage

Nor it's torturer, or the weapons he held.

Another burst of smoke,

Another hapless drag of the knife.

"They are a poor torturer. I would have hoped for their finest show tonight."

Careless swipes of blades and blunt weapons,

Every strike immature.

He leaned closer to me, mumbling in my ear.

"We could do better."

I grinned, eyes flashing white.

"That we could, my dear. We could give them the best show they might ever see."

He smirked against my skin, pressing a discreet kiss to my cheek before falling into the shadows.

Tarred Souls

The job was thankless.

A soul could not understand what this placement meant. The tar in their souls could not comprehend the purge that occured when the pain reached the height of its intensity. The blackness left, the sludge falling away from their bodies, dripping onto the floor, sinking into the core of Hell.

Darkness swirling, blood splattering, artificial light cracking through. Suffocated lungs, begging veins, ricocheting screams.

Everything created in the concrete walls tangled together for a second chance at life. This is the basic principle they did not understand.

Every creation consisted of pain: whether it was birth or transformation. Pain is quintessential to life. Differences divide in the surges and quiet sessions. Tar is difficult to work with; this, too, is something they do not understand.

Your tar can be scrubbed away. You deserve this second life. Not every soul has this chance. There are lesser souls who would *beg* to be in your place.

Power will be yours. You will command the elements as you had wished to. Revenge, anger, blood, darkness, immortality. This will all be yours.

The light show in the room splashed across his face, lighting it up with harsh cuts into pure darkness. Sadreen shifted, writing in his leather-bound notebook. The scream left Carson at a pitch an octave higher than yesterday. The 1,000 milliamps were wonderfully fitting for their screams. Static ran through the air as if it itself was oxygen, looking to fill lungs and blood with power. The smell of burnt flesh would have been wonderous, save the charred smell that could be tasted on his tongue. Heat sweltered through the air, leaving Sadreen to breathe deep.

The heat was indeed his favorite part of this transformation. The heat boiled his skin, set his lungs on fire. The quiet dampness reminded him of walking near the Nile in his human years. He breathed in the air, the sobs of his charge and the rattle of the chains as they shook and twitched becoming background to his internal enjoyment.

Gazing back up at Carson, he sat back in his chair, studying them. Their sobs had quieted, the twitching had settled into their bones. He waited- expectant. In time, Carson raised their head, still planted on all fours. “When will this end??” They screamed, voice hoarse. “How much longer are you going to torture me, you cunt??”

Sadreen wrote their reactions in his notebook before standing, placing the pen neatly beside the open pages. He moved over to the control panel, steps steady and even. “Your transformation process will be finished when I decide you are ready to become a demon, little one.”

He turned up the voltage by 100 milliamps and flicked the switch, their screams filling the room once again.

valid! they sound like a dynamic bunch. sadreen sounds like one hell of a character, though; what's up with him?

Oh, Sadreen Sadreen, Sadreen...he’s...how do I describe him. This is gonna be long, he takes some effort to explain.

Pronouns: he/him, sometimes they/them

He’s my demon, first off. He’s an earth demon, so he can control any kind of earth/rock, and plants, and has a few other powers. He’s 300,000 years old, and he’s a soul worker, which means he transforms souls of the dead into new demons via different torture methods. i.e if you wanna make a fire demon, you burn the soul to ever living hell, or if you wanna make a water demon you can drown them, ect ect. Things can be played with at will, and possibilities are endless.

He’s one of the best at what he does. He’s efficient, without causing too much harm to the soul, and despite what his job is, he has some sort of ethics to it, like not owning the soul after he’s done with them, not erasing the memories of their human life, ect. But he will also take his anger out on his charges, so...hes not kind. In fact, he’s an absolute cunt. He’s just also a good businessman who will make fair deals.

He’s kind of emotionless. He studies people, he predicts what they’re going to do or say or want. He’s a manipulator and a compulsive liar. He’s well known in Hell, but no one knows a thing about him. He’s very closed off personally. He’s ruthless, unforgiving, selfish, narcissistic. Nothing phases him and he will threaten to kill children for inane things. He’s attempted to kill gods. If you try to insult or villainize him, he will retaliate and leave your body broken and bleeding. 

He has...about 2 1/2 friends and exactly 1 boyfriend who he will show he is not always cold as ice and can be nice, if he wants to be. Though it isn’t a total personality flip with people he likes- he’s still everything listed, he just also cares about them and wants to help them.

Misc things about him: he’s a drug dealer for pretty much every illegal drug, both the human kinds and the demon kinds. He denies he’s a drug addict, and his home where he lives with his boyfriend is currently decorated with things like fairy lights inside intestines and dried human skin stitched together to be curtains. Oh, and he will smoke about 16-18 packs of cigarettes a day. I call him a chimney demon because of this

:D I’m glad! I love my OCs so much and think they’re all so interesting but ah, I’d say I’m biased, heh ;)

Anyway! Lemme introduce them all a little:(Note: if they have multiple pronouns, the pronouns I put first are the ones they prefer more)

Aesner (he/him)- God of demons, sins, Hell, death, torture, sadism, and space. When he rules Hell it’s with an iron fist, and he rules by fear and intimidation most of the time- it wields results, though not being an ass would wield results too. He was the ruler of the first pantheon mankind ever worshipped, which had a downfall due to certain events. Ruthless, powerful, and kind only to a few.

Amoret (they/them)- Fallen angel from the Death rank. Death angels are designed to be cold and heartless, with abilities and weapons to help them kill demons and damn “evil” people. Instead, Amoret is a very kind soul who will not harm unless the being has proven to be evil. Then those death angel instincts will kick in and they can fight like hell. Their favored weapon is a bow from heaven itself.

Aphriam (they/them)- Spider demon! At the end of their transformation process to become a demon they were killed by maneating Hell Spiders and when the process completed they became half Hell Spider, full demon. They’re a chatterbox to the extreme (seriously, once they start talking they don’t s t o p), will call people out on their lies and manipulation, are cryptic, like causing chaos, but are generally very friendly. And yes, they do have Spiderman-esque powers, among a few other things that you can only get from the Hell Spiders ;)

Azar (she/her)- She started out as a character me, but really turned into her own person. She’s a pyromaniac, doesn’t take any shit, will fight anyone, and always carries a knife and a box of matches with her. She doesn’t really fear death and while she’s had a rough past few years in her life, she takes that energy and uses it to...well...light fires. And usually will end up catching on fire herself in the process. Looks kinda like a grunge girl from 1996 with dyed, fiery red hair.

Étincelle (they/them, he/him)- A tiny, 4′10 Autumn court fae. Easily excitable, has an overly giant obsession with glitter and to a lesser extent, sprinkles, and loves their partners more than anything. They have several homemaking skills, including basket weaving, sewing, cooking, gardening, and their favorite- making desserts & candies. If you can think of it, they can probably make it. Taffys, toffees, chocolates, pies, ect. As an autumn fae, they have powers for all 4 elements, and misc abilities like talking to plants and fae spells (of course). Though not everything is glitter and sparkles for them, they have severe PTSD they hide, and they cannot go back to the fae realm lest they be captured & killed. (I’ll get to why in...hopefully some writing, heh)

Jaskil (any, but currently she/her)- Original god of theatre, arts, creativity, inspiration, ingenuity, healing, therapy, and psychiatry. Genderfluid, so she changes how she looks to how masculine/feminine she feels. She’s generally bubbly though soft-spoken and gentle. Out of all the arts painting is her favorite, though she loves all of them (and yes, tattoos, body mods, dancing, writing, ect...all arts). Though of course, if you cross her she will retaliate and show you exactly how powerful she really is.

Maze Meadows (he/him)- Most of you already know him, but let me update him for ya’ll. Full-blooded witch, a serial killer, makes “art” out of gore, a fashion critic trying to break into being a fashion designer. He only recently learned about his status as a full witch and is learning about his abilities and expanding them. He is cold to most of the world, but once he cares for you, he’d do anything to protect you. Now immortal thanks to a god he’s dating, death isn’t even an obstacle anymore.

Rancauer (he/him)- Created by Aesner, and a god in his pantheon. God of destruction, war, famine, plague, manipulation of mind & body, toxins, poisons, maths, and chemistry. Despite his titles, he’s quite a humble god, and is kinder than you’d expect. Though when he talks about death, you understand that he is not all flowers, but there are thorns. He is still not all “good”, and you can tell he enjoys doing his job almost too much. (While he is technically not a god of death, if it weren’t for him it would be much harder for death to happen. So in some regards, he is a god of death- he kickstarts the process.) He will also die for his family, and protect them at any cost.

Sadreen (switches between he/him, they/them)- I did a whole ask on him so I’ll try to keep this brief. He’s an earth demon, a soul worker who transforms souls into demons, is very serious about his job, talks like a textbook, and if he were a king he’d rule with an iron fist and put the fear of god into everyone. As it is, if you’re not really close to him or a superior, he’ll beat you nearly to death if you criticize him. :D (he’s fun >.>) He’s also cold as ice, is unphased by nearly all threats or torture to himself, and is a drug addict & dealer. The only thing that will shake him is if you threaten his boyfriend, who he will protect at any and all costs.

thunderlad1305​‘s Dark Ranger, Sadreen (which yeah, it took us like two weeks to realize it sounds a lot like mad-maddie​‘s Shaadren but we’ll blame Darnassian evolving into thalassian somehow)

Like Aliessa, he too was a blood elf that became a Dark Ranger; he fell early in the horde campaign in Northrend and was raised as a potential death knight, but he was soon “liberated” by the Hand of Vengeance (whom Aliessa was working for at the time)

As for the rest of his story, you’d have to ask the bf ;D
