I watched Hidden Figures last week. It was a really great movie but I would rate it at uncomfortable due to various instances of gum.
Thanks! I haven’t seen it yet, but I really want to!
Anyone else seen Hidden Figures and have something to add?
Felt-tip and sketching pad! (I hope your economy he goes well)
econ is a slow and painful death
felt-tip: describe your aesthetic
woodsy?? dense forests and fields, dark rock and lichen and moss, wildflowers, small older houses in the middle of nowhere and warm, heavy clothes (is “northern-ish appalachia” an aesthetic).
sketching pad: describe yourself from a stranger’s point of view
probably very short, i’ve been told my hair stands out a lot so i imagine “redhead with ridiculously frizzy hair” is probably the first thing someone would notice, and a face that doesn’t really ever change expressions.
7!
i can’t drive so this is a slight reach, but i associate world at large by modest mouse with driving between colorado and maryland all the time :0
Red-footed tortoise, rat snake, and nile crocodile!
sorry this is so late, i didn’t have wifi for a while!
Red-footed tortoise: What pets do you want to get in the future?
oooh definitely a tarantula (or five) and a dove or pigeon! i’d like to get a curly-hair or g. pulchra as a starter since i’ve already had some experience with tarantulas, and work my way up to the Big Spides. i’d also really love to have some finches, i have one now but i’d like to get some of my own when i have my own place.
Rat snake: Why did you start your blog?
already answered!
Nile crocodile: What kind of things do you collect/ want to collect?
oh man i collect a lot of stuff. im trying to get into vulture culture, but my biggest collection of stuff is probably my fossils and rocks, i literally have BOXES full of them. i also collect older/antique science books and field guides. i have maybe 30 or so, and my oldest is a 1820′s botany textbook! they’re all my babies.
january 5th and 9th!! I KNOW I GOTTA SEE IT
I need to go shopping. Any really good headphone and earplug suggestions? I have some cheap headphones but they just aren't cutting it in school. I'm really afraid of using earplugs in public because I'm afraid someone will ask me about them but I at least need some for home when my family eats downstairs and car rides.
HI!
okay so earplugs:
First of all, look for the 31-31Db ones. They’re the strongest and the work wonders. I have both Macks’ and Walgreens’ generic brand and they both are good, so I think whatever brand you find with 31-32Db should do great.
earphones are a little bit harder though.
You could go with te absolutely expensive choice, and look for active noise cancellation, which will bring you to find Bose headphones or earphones. They’re crazy expensive but I hear they’re the best. I don’t have them, but @powertotheoctopus does, and she’s awesome, so maybe she can give her opinion here.
You could look for a little cheaper option with Passive noise cancellation ones, or rather noise isolating ones. the usually come in an in-ear or over-ear shape, and they’re supposed to block out outside noise. They do their job, but you have to remember they’re not active. On the plus side, though, they don’t require charging or batteries.
If you’re looking for headphones to put on without music, these are the best options. But’ if you’re looking for ones to just play music through loud enough to block out the world, I’d say you should go with in-ear ones, because they are small, so they’re less noticeable, and they block some of the noise because they’re in your ear canal.
I hope that helped some!
