The statue/sculpture on the left portrays Saint Kateri. “Kateri Tekakwitha (1656–1680) who was the first North American Indian to be beatified, and was canonized in October 2012. She was an Algonquian-Mohawk woman of New York State. At an early age, she converted to Christianity. The statue was created by Estella Loretto, a sculptor from the nearby Jemez Pueblo, and installed in August 2003. A plaque noting Kateri's canonization was added in October 2012. On the right is a view through a blooming tree in Cathedral Park to the street and buildings beyond. Cathedral Par is adjacent to the Cathedral on the North side. ・・・ #SaintKateri #SaintKateriTekakwitha #NativeAmerican #CathedralPark #SantaFeNewMexico #SantaFe #NewMexico #PhotosByJeriRae (at Santa Fe, New Mexico) https://www.instagram.com/p/COyR5p3LsCq/?igshid=1ttsyab03vio3
