New headcanon: actually is a very old one, but let me share it with you. Vegeta teaching Goku how to speak their native language. I don't know, maybe in their free time in the RoSaT? It would make Vegeta proud, I'm sure. Goku would finally understand some things Vegeta used to say under his breath (mostly cussing, but whatever). Goku and Vegeta talking to each other in front of everyone and no one understanding shit. A lot of yelling that just both of them can understand. Dirty talks!

The RoSaT would be a good place for them to them to learn I think. Maybe in the first few months/year, because we know they were disasters after that! Maybe it would happen while Vegeta was keeping track who had won in their sparring match today, or writing down their training schedule for the next few months. After he finishes writing them up he signs and starts scribbling on the paper, cos he’s actually really tired after todays training (not that he’d ever admit that to Kakarot of course.) So he sits at the table with his pages of wins and losses and now there’s some shapes along the bottom of the sheet. Goku is across the room stretching out and chatting about how hard he got hit today, how cool it is that they can train for as long as they want to, and how cool the tournament is going to be! But then he notices that Vegeta hasn’t said much in the last few minutes. Even less than usual. So he heads over to the little kitchen and leans over Vegetas shoulder to see whats so important - and he see’s all these weird squiggles and shapes.
“Vegeta! What’re you writin’?”
“!!! Kakarot don’t sneak up on me.”
“I wasn’t sneakin! You were just being all quiet. What’re you writing?”
“Nothing. Just counting how many times I kicked your ass today.”
“Haha, is that how many times I kicked yours?”
“On the bottom of the page. That looks like writing, what’re you writing? Is that a different language? What language is it? Vegeta -”
“It says Kakarot. And Vegeta.”
“…it’s our names, in saiyan language. I wasn’t really thinking when I wrote them down.”
“That’s how you write my name?? Hey that’s cool!” (and then he sits opposite him and scoots closer to the table)
“What else can you write? Can you show me how to as well? How does it sound? Hey, how do you say “what’s for dinner?”
“You actually want to learn some?”
“…okay. Let’s get started then. Pay attention, brat.”
AND THEN THEY HAVE FUN LEARNING NEW WORDS. Also I think Vegeta would teach him swears first, just so Goku could say them all innocently and be confused when Vegeta starts cracking up :D But you’re right about him being proud. And happy too, because how long must it have been since Vegeta spoke his language with someone else? This could lead to lots of good talks about their home planet!!
I think it would be amazing if they got into a fight and suddenly one of them called the other a swear word only they could understand! Just to have the other suddenly gasp like HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT TO ME OH IT’S ON NOW. OR have Goku lean back to swear at Vegeta and have him mispronounce the word and he ends up calling him a banana or something silly. After swears it’d be onto some words that they could use when they were having fun - harder, faster, more, come on -
“These are good words for sparring, Kakarot.”
“Sure, Vegeta. I’ll remember these ones!”
“Make sure you do. They’re important. I want to hear you use them all tonight.“
“Man I can’t wait to hear how they sound when you moan them, Vegeta!”
Also a little different but - I’ve had this thought that ever since Goku’s vision of Vegeta after he died on Namek they’ve had a really strong telepathic connection, that maybe that’s a part of saiyan language too. So they can plan and react quickly when they’re in battle!
We need to know more about saiyans and their ways :D DON’T LET US DOWN, SUPER.
