Mick Schumacher: 2020 Formula 2 Champion
George Russell team suit - Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team. G E O O O O O O O R G E ! ! ! F I N A L L Y ! ! ! A golden opportunity at last for Russell. This week, as we already know, Lewis Hamilton tested positive for COVID-19 after finishing the #BahrainGP, so Mercedes had to resort to the services of the young Brit to take his seat among some rumors that claimed that Vandoorne or Hulkenberg would be the ones who they would have this chance, but the German team is confident in what Russell can do in the best car on the grid. Good luck to George!!! 🍀
It’s Big Brain Time
Okay so here’s my predictions for the Mercedes seat at Bahrain and how this all ties into the Mercedes MasterplanTM:
So it’s pretty much confirmed that Mercedes want George first, then Stoffel. It’s all down to whether or not Williams will let him go, and I think they will. Firstly, If George does end up staying at Williams for 2021, being in a Mercedes will give him so much knowledge about their setup and car that he can then bring back to Williams, which will likely help them a ton in the long run. Also, the switching of power from the Williams family to a corporation wasn’t too popular in the F1 community, but if they let George go to Mercedes, they’d definitely be seen in a much better light. It’d also be very good press coverage if George does well since he’d return to the team with a lot of media attention on him, which companies would love.
But who will replace George? Well, I have a few guesses. Firstly, I think it might be Stoffel who replaces George seeing as he has a valid superlicense and will be in Bahrain already. I don’t think he’s coming back to F1 any time super soon, and he did really well in FE, so I think Mercedes would rather give George a test run. It has to be said that Stoffel is still a really good driver and he is expected to be there, whereas Hulk isn’t because he isn’t a specified reserve driver. However, it once again would be very good press for Williams to bring Hulk back since so many people were upset about him getting booted.
My favorite parts about this whole situation are:
1. Basically the whole F1 community is coming together to rally behind George, something we don’t see very often (also Nico Rosberg supporting George Russell is not something I expected in 2020, even with everything else happening), which just shows that everyone appreciates and acknowledges him! Also if you don’t like George, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you probably don’t like Lewis either, most likely don’t like Max, and love Valtteri and Kimi. Just sayin......
2. Literally no big names that I’ve seen have mentioned Ocon at all, and I love it. George deserves this seat so much more, plus Esteban is getting crushed by Danny Ricc (don’t believe me? He’s 60 points behind Daniel, who is in 4th, while Ocon is in 12th. That’s an F if I’ve ever heard of one), meanwhile our boy Russell has never been beaten by his teammate in Qualifying. We love a talented, humble, and unproblematic George!
There is a trend becoming clear:
- BahrainGP -> crying over Romain
- SakhirGP -> crying over George
- AbuDhabiGP -> crying over Carlos/Lando ending as teammates
seb always blaming the car and not the crew for the bad pit stops :((( hes so humble
lewis should take a sabbatical just for exciting podiums like this😚😚
