Sakura was only part of the reason. The other part was because he was reminded of Itachi and how he protected the village from the shadows.

Secondly, Sakura did not welcome Sasuke back home at the end of Sasuke Shinden, the novel ends with Sasuke walking towards the gates of Konoha.
