danny can you explain to me about the astrals and primal beasts in general etc etc before i get into 000 for real OR is it going to get better explained to me in 000. i'd like to have a better grasp before i finish reading and i feel like i'm missing some world elements that would help make the world building details more cohesive to me since i'm not familiar with the gbf world. entirely possible i may be stupid and missed it BUT figured you were the best person to ask hhh thank you
000 assumes that you have knowledge of what primal beasts and astrals are so nothing about them is explained there. basically the astrals were a spacefaring race of demigods who created the primal beasts (who function as actual gods) and entered a war with the races native to the planet. the primal beasts are all creatures that embody concepts, laws, legends, or forces of nature and were created by the astrals to fight in that war but some people managed to create primal beasts of their own (like colossus) to fight back against the astrals and ended up winning as the astrals either died, left the planet, or mysteriously disappeared.
the primarchs however are different from most primals in the sense that helel ben sahar, helel ben shalem, and belial (i think), were not created by the astrals but by bahamut himself at the dawn of gbf’s world, and the astrals entered a sort of alliance with them to research the laws of evolution (which is where lucilius and bubs come in, even if neither of them are real astrals) and the creation of more primal beasts which in turn led to the creation of michael, gabs, raph, uriel, etc.
if you wanna know more about primal beasts then i’d suggest you check out the “primal resonance” event. info on astrals is a bit more scattered since we’ve only met a small handful in the main story and there are still lots of mysteries surrounding them and the war.
