Mothers Day with Sally
After weeks of radio silence, the last thing that Sally was expecting was any sort of Mother’s Day visit from Delta or Frank. She had thought this was going to be her first one alone. She sat on the couch, looking out the window as she sewed on her pinky finger which had come loose during the night, thinking about the last one that she had with Frank. He had brought her flowers that he had picked from someone else’s garden, and chocolates - not dollar store ones either. But department store ones. At least, she hoped he had bought them. It was hard to tell with that boy, but she overlooked that, never asking questions, instead bursting into tears at how good and thoughtful her son was.
So when the sleek red car pulled up and parked in front of her house, she was expecting a flashy reporter or someone else come to bother her about the video that was uploaded about Boogie and her son, or how Frank had come back to life after such a long time being dead. She locked the door against those intruders. But to see her son, and that familiar head of curls come out of it and walk up to her front door made her throw it open with surprise and glee.
The first person that she hugged was her son, of course, her baby boy. She wasn’t expecting anything back - he had arrived back from the dead a changed man, everyone had been able to see that. But what she did get what a light pat on the back, and a kiss on the top of the head, like old times. When she finally released him, she looked over to Delta, arms still open. “Oh honey,” She said, a smile on her face, tears already welling up. “Come here.”
