salprieta replied to your post “AVATAR OFA NANA AND SHIGARAKI I WILL TAKE NO CRITICISM AT THIS TIME”
this is what I’ve been most excited about in secondhand!!!
@salprieta you have no idea how excited i am to get to that point. it’s going to be a while still (well.... maybe. you’ll have to read and find out) but they ARE going to meet and talk and at one of those points nana will know who shigaraki is to her....
I was late to Byler - first watched Stranger Things in like 2022 when s4 was coming out. I kinda cringed to myself realizing they were doing the doomed crush on straight friend storyline for Will because I really felt he deserved better. I didn’t think too much of it. I really liked the characters the series had built, even if sometimes the story didn’t resonate for me (some of the adult plot lines, the Russian plot line)
It wasn’t until Sorcerer that I was like. Omg no wait this is not one sided at all. And I went back and did a detailed rewatch and was like Mike is more queer coded than Will!!! It kinda doesn’t surprise me that I missed it the first time—I’m one of those bisexuals who didn’t realize they weren’t straight until their early thirties despite many, many signs pointing otherwise way earlier in life. Once I made the connection I related so insanely to closeted internalized homophobia Mike Wheeler. That version of canon is way realer to me than a dumb Duffer statement. Along similar lines, I love conformitygate and that is more real to me than anything the Duffers will or will not do or say.
It’s been a short time in this fandom but I am just so impressed with y’all. I just want to say, the power lies with us, and I’m so excited to see what everyone will create out of this regardless of the utter bullshit that was the landing of this series.
duffers are making death of the author reaaaaallll easy to shift into rn
Something else that doesn’t make sense to me was them having Will say that of course children’s minds are weaker hence why Henry targeted them. Isn’t the premise of the show and wasn’t some of its earliest charm the strength of the party? Their resourcefulness, their creativity, their (yes) heart? Isn’t El, supposedly representative of “childhood magic”, one of the heroes of our story? Hasn’t that same exploited child taken on interdimensional monsters and won? Wasn’t the moment that Will connected to his powers the moment he revisited the most meaningful memories of his childhood, of the person he was before he felt the pressure to hide who he was and (yes) conform?
Sounds like Vecna talking to me!
I guess Finn Wolfhard was the original Byler truther then
i have -1000000 byler doubt bc if the duffers don’t go for it they are incorrect
the real andrew in drag was mike in camo during the coming out scene
