Look here if yu don't beleeally need to ask? I get the need for a gross, unsypathetic comic relief, but having him taking like 30 mins of screen time that could have been devoted to dwarves and the actual plot is an outrage and I'll die on that hill. We don't need a slimy man who cross-dresses as a women when there are more serious things going on! And if you wanted to make a villain's sidekick, you had Grima Wormtongue. That's how you do it. (The only good thing about the existence of Alfrid is that we can have a cursed ship: Grimfrid :D)

22. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen… I'd write here that instead of the death of the Durin boys we could have thenm survive at the end but then I recalled that this is what actually happened. They took a nap after the battle because they were tired and then they woke up, and everybody had tons of fun, the end! If you need proof, ask @guardianofrivendell about the assymetrical Thorin on his sarcophagus bed. If he were dead, they would have put him straight on top of it, but he was napping and moved a bit in his sleep.
