Salt dough pumpkins!

These babies are pretty small and have an aluminum foil core. So here is my firey pumpkin and my happy pumpkin.

And here, amongst all the love cakes, a very tiny furb is hidden ! 

This is Poupée,  one of my smallest friends ! Always funny he loves playing tricks, sometimes he hides in my ears and sings me lullabies !

Homemade Salt Dough Ornaments

This was really the second official attempt, but not too bad. All there is to do is mix, roll out, cut, and bake 1-2 hours at around 250f.

Recipe (Large Batch)

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup salt

1 & 1/2 cup warmish water

Sending my roots back into the soil has taken some time here, and I've been trying to indulge myself in little projects to get myself back into the groove of making. I recently got really obsessed with these mysterious little coffins found in the nineteenth c in Scotland, and just kind of automatically started making them-- something about it just spoke to my yearning to nestle down into my new life. I don't have my studio and supplies yet, so the simplicity of making him out of what I had on hand, nearly fundaments of a home-- cork from our first celebratory bottle, salt, flour-- felt right. A christening. I wanted him to be rough and honest, made with the haste of obsession. Yet he feels sweet to me, more like a pig in a poke, comfortable and cozy, rather than a totem of despair (although, of course, what's sweetness if not always tinged a little sadness... such was the move, certainly).
