I'm gonna say something that some of y'all won't:

Ruby retained the ability to menstruate just so Sam could drink straight from the tap.

We all know Benny was Dean's Amelia, but can we talk about how he was also Dean's Ruby?

Both Benny and Ruby were supernatural creatures, and both Sam and Dean bonded with them during times when their brother wasn't around and they were at their worst mental state, facing evil alone.

All along, Ruby had promised Sam that she would help save Dean from Hell, while Benny had promised Dean that he would save Sam from Purgatory.

Dean didn't trust Ruby from the start, constantly telling Sam he was a fool to trust a demon.

And then we got Sam, who didn't trust Benny from the start, telling Dean he was a fool to actually trust a vampire.

The way Sam completely trusted Ruby and the way Dean completely trusted Benny, justifying this by saying that Ruby and Benny saved their lives (and at the same time we see that Dean and Sam don't like this and the two of them are not at all satisfied with each other's explanations).

How Dean's condition for making things right between them was to completely cut off contact with Ruby, and Sam's condition was to completely cut off contact with Benny.

How Dean tried to kill Ruby, and Sam tried to kill Benny, and how they protected both of them from each other.

How the phrase "chose a demon/a vampire over brother" was used for both relationships.

And the fact that Sam slept with Ruby…

I just love all the parallels, and how Sam and Dean were clearly jealous of each other in a way that wasn't platonic, and all the comparisons and innuendos.

(and yes, Benny was obviously a good character, unlike Ruby, and I really love Benny, but all these parallels…so many thoughts on this, so many thoughts).

Dean: *walks in on Sam and Ruby talking* Dean: Sam! Thank goodn--wait, what are you doing? Who is she?  Sam: Uh…Dean, Ruby. Ruby, Dean. Dean: What are you…friends with her? I’m out there risking my neck and you’re over here holding hands with a demon!  Sam: I can explain!  Ruby: This should be entertaining. Sam: You see, Ruby and I share an appreciation for the fine craftsmanship of-- Alastair: *appears* I found you.  Sam: Oh thank goodness.

i remember when i read the first tdm book i thought sam and ruby were in love with eachtoher and when ruby erased sam’s memories of her i was like ‘damn another pair added to the doomed yuri community’ and i think that’s beautiful

i always read fics ab sam being all gentle and submissive like let my man be a freak!! we all watched that scene with him and ruby right? like we saw the way he grabbed her hair right?
