Headcanons

Ruby wears mom jeans and a pair of sunglasses on her head at all times, no matter the weather. Also swears by reusable coffee cups. Has a bright green one which Lee calls her, 'comfort cup'.

Liam has an obsession with duffel bags. Takes about 50 on his impromptu road trips. Always stuffs them with all types of snacks and CDs. Gets so offended and upset anytime he can only have one carry on bag at the airport. "But darlin'-" "Liam, you do not need your DVD collection on an aeroplane."

Chubs has a fully illustrated set of encyclopedias on his bookshelf. Will just casually be reading one in a corner somewhere. Carries a pocket sized dictionary everywhere. Hardback, naturally.

Vida. Loves. Cats. Adopts a tiny kitten and is so protective of it that she has been known tackle people to the ground if they so much as pet it wrong. She loves just cuddling in bed with the cat and watching James Bond movies. Chubs finds out he's highly allergic and ends up on the sofa. Stan that.

Zu drinks fruit tea. You can't convince me otherwise. Would die for bobba. Just shows up to everything with a cup and slurps really loudly. Only lets specific people drink hers. Aka Roman (and Priyanka when she begs). She also wears beanies. I don't care.

Roman and Lucas wear rings. I stand by this. They also go for runs. Drag Zu and Sam out with them.

Sam and Lucas end up racing ahead while Roman and Zu enjoy the peaceful scenery and each others company.

Priyanka stress knits. Zu finds a needle and wool in her backpack one day and is like "???" and Priya just shrugs. "The trauma." Knits Zu a yellow beanie.

Lana is the BEST gift wrapper. Has a huge box of wrapping paper, bows, stickers and everything else. She and Priyanka make an unstoppable team.

The gang get rly nice knitted presents for Christmas in pretty boxes with ribbon.

Ruby and The Reds

does the title sound like a band name? Yes, yes it does.

-Ruby playing games with jamboree reds to get them to have fun and let loose once and a while, she's not doing great and they all think she's just being nice and letting them win, but she's genuinely stressed out that shes lost 5 games in a row to someone who hasn't held a card in 6 years.

-Lucas was into story writing as a kid, so now he's into dungeons and dragons. Sam is a prince, Mia is the evil witch Like the stories when they were young. Other reds join, and the only move they can think of is ' fire ball' for everything

-' you come across a not so sturdy bridge, remember that Ruby is a charm speaker and she can probably go a town over and convince someone to make it a good bridge. what do you do?' " FIRE BALL!" ' that's not.... okay, fire ball'

-Sam and Ruby just sitting around and chatting, catching up on lost time. When Sam realizes that Ruby kept Sam's fighting spirt in mind the entire time she planned the camp escape, she crys and thinks that she's not worthy of that

-Ruby gives her the same talk Liam gave her when she thought she was a monster, and they have a really sweet moment where Sam shouts ' when did you get so wise asshole?!?'

- I also like to think Liam is there because Ruby managed to convince Cruz she needed her boyfriend as emotional support, AKA an excuse to share a bed for the first time in almost a year. (Honestly, they just use it to cuddle and watch movies under a blanket)

-Liam is probably the first male friend that Lucas has because he was bullied for only hanging around Sam in middle school

-so he gets him into all sorts of boy shenanigans and they take notes on how to be better boyfriends to their gals

-like Liam is more physical with Ruby, but casually, like tracing her hands so softly that Ruby forgets the sentence she was in the middle of, kissing her forehead when she feels down, holding pinkies when he's behind her to show her that he's there for her when a government person acts a bit snappy, and having his arm around her whenever their in private just to have her close

-Ruby and Sam play that ' say Words till you say The same thing' game. They have yet to miss

-Ruby also tries to get the reds to use their powers more because she knows first hand that shoving them down, hoping they go away if they aren't used, and hating yourself because you can't distance your self from the powers like blues can, does NOT work.

-it'll go like *red blows something up and looks scared because 'big fires are scary' *

- *Ruby cheering her lungs off while also reaching for one of the 10 fire extinguishers she has lined up

-Sam, Ruby, and Mia have to all learn not to make any sounds when they get burned and just calmly put their hand underwater because they yellped once and a red started crying for 10 minutes and didn't like the idea of hurting anyone

- Ruby only had experience with two reds before this ( Cole and Mason( 'twitch')), so shes trying her hardest to keep them in mind throughout all of this, and does not pressure any of the kids to get the cure. Even encouraging them not to get it until they stop being deathly afraid of who they are, because she knows coming to peace is better than pushing all those problems under a rug till you trip over it

on a more fun note, it also took me seven years and a reread to realize that Sam had a scar from having a cleft lip repaired
