100th Episode of Cyberbunk is up this week!
Creator’s Work Week
What does my work week and process look like? I write two webcomics and a smattering of other projects every week, and I do the breakdowns and inks for one of them. Cyberbunk is the lion's share of my week. LINEWebtoon, our publisher, measures our weekly updates as Episodes. Each episode is about 32 panels, which comes out to around six pages of comic. Deadline is 12:01 Monday Morning and the update is Wednesday. Monday morning the last episode is already turned in (hopefully) - after marketing, I launch into thumbnails and script.
By the middle of Monday I usually send the first few pages of script and sketches to Cynthia Rodgers our penciler and my wife who is at her day job. At lunch, she'll begin her roughs. Tuesday I usually write on another project like PRIME8, or a screenplay, proposal, coursework (I love Coursera). By Tuesday night I get the first pages back of the new episode of 'Bunk and start inking that night. Wednesday the last episode posts so it's a marketing social media morning and I have to either finish the 'Bunk script or one of the other projects that afternoon, with more inking at night.
Thursday is an especially tough day for me. I volunteer my time to teach Tai Chi once a week - Thursday AM I unlock the doors and do Open Practice then I return Thursday night to teach a class. So I have to cram anything left undone into the afternoon. Friday is just mad inking, with some writing if I still don't have pages for PRIME8 finished yet. Friday night to Sunday night is usually insane.
Inking and Marketing are all I have time for once we hit the weekend and pages come back to me faster. I pretty much ink nonstop usually with only one or two social engagements. Friday-Sunday usually ends around 2 or 3 AM. All to start over again on Monday. That is of course if everything goes off without a hitch ;)
