My Five from A Study In Ichor! I’m only two episodes in but I love it so much!!! I simply couldn’t resist a Victorian era/Industrial Revolution so I went a little ham with her 😂 Here’s a few things I wrote up about her:

five immigrated to England with her brother and father from Hong Kong to move into her mothers house when she was very young. Her mother was a middle class white woman whose family hailed from Germany

She was seen as an abomination, as her parents union was frowned upon and unlawful, and things were very difficult for the family

Her father was killed by a mob for attempting to be a schoolteacher and her mother died of tuberculosis

She and her brother moved to the city in search of jobs and a new life, and when he caught the eye of a wealthy lady and began courting her, five urged him to marry her and secure a better life. He didn’t want to leave her, but she INSISTED. She wanted her brother to be comfortable and happy, and she knew she couldn’t follow him. So he left, promising to come back for her

Being a woman in Victorian London is TOUGH. Trying to make a living as a single, orphaned, biracial woman in Victorian London? FORGET IT. So she bound her chest and took over her brothers job working for Van Arks company. She thought impersonating her brother was necessary, but she quickly realized no one even noticed he was gone. But she couldn’t work his job as a woman, despite being strangely buff without the calories necessary to build that kind of muscles, so she continued to Mulan it

When Sam met her, he had *no* idea she was a girl. When he brought her to his house, he realized her gender and uhhhhh, he had already developed a crush on her as a dude?? And then he found she could do BOTH???? We love bisexual sam, he was BLESSED.

Luckily, she didn’t mind constantly dressing in drag, so having a man move in with Sam as an “associate” was a lot less conspicuous and scandalous than a woman moving in with him bc ✨heteronormative bullshit✨

Also!!! As a cis woman, I’m not familiar with trans sort of situations, although I’m not sure I was categorize Five as trans in this AU? She generally uses she/her pronouns but is ok with/identifies with he/him and they/them as well. If any trans members of the ZR community would like to educate me or point out problems with this, I would love to hear it!! Thanks all <3

Wishing you a very merry Christmas!! I hope everyone had a good time with their families, and for those who don’t have families to return to or don’t have families that support them I hope life treated you kindly, and that next year things will be a little better ❤️❤️

Iron Zombies After Dark: Ingredient

Summary: She usually gets to the training area at this time. Its just odd. I always meet her here!

Spoilers:  None really. Fluffy 5AM.

Supposedly its around August now. Janine is pretty insistent that her calenders are still on track regardless of humanity's current situation. According to her and her silly calender it is currently September 13th. Which pretty much meant that it was starting to get colder than most people would prefer it, it also meant that Halloween would be next month!

Not that most people would really be feeling up to that sort of holiday. Y'know. With the constant threat of Zomb's and starvation.

Now Sam didn't think much could really happen today! It's just a simple Saturday, somewhat gloomy weather wise but ideal nonetheless. Supplies are holding pretty well and things had been pretty calm recently- As calm as it can be during a Zombie apocalypse that is.

So being that it is a little past lunch time- Sam could be found near the training area. Since Five tended to head their just after lunch to do some laps before stretching out and heading back to the Comm's shack to chill with him for awhile.

But she wasn't here yet. And no one had seen her today, he'd asked Janine but she'd simply shook her head and made one of her lovely comments. Not that he'd be sharing it any time soon. He'd also asked Ed and Molly when they passed by but even they hadn't caught a glimpse of her.

Which was odd. Five loved to see what those two were up to.

Just when he'd decided that maybe she wasn't going to show up- someone had swept him from his feet. Spluttering indignantly he was getting ready to roll out of the arms that had scooped him up so easily. Until he realized just who had decided to grab him.

"F-Five! You know i don't like- Janine could be nearby!"

flushing a soft pink he cleared his throat before wrapping one arm around her neck, Five's only response was to press a soft kiss to the top of his head. Before smiling warmly at him and wiggling her eyebrows.

"Hahah. Very funny Five. Can we at-least move away from the training tracks. Sara is giving us some very teasing looks. She might come over and make more dirty jokes."

Noticing the confused look that Five was sporting he sighed softly.

"Y'know- Like... She likes to comment on your height - since you are ... well pretty dang tall."

Five simply snorted and shook her head. Adjusting her hold on Sam so that he'd be less likely to wind up being dropped. Clearly not thinking that much of Sara's 'dirty joke' - especially if they were that weak!

"Yeah okay... Actually that isn't so much a dirty joke- more of an assessment i guess".

Whistling softly Five began to walk in the direction of her dwelling- not that her Cot and side table were very interesting to look at but it was still an improvement from being out in the middle of Abel being stared at by runners who should have been training.

Though that didn't mean that people didn't look their way as they walked there. Or - as Five walked there whilst still insisting to carry Sam bridal style towards the housing. Not that Sam didn't appreciate the way that Maxine had winked at them. He'd not be surprised if she'd been forewarned about Five abducting him. Last time he'd brought anything up to Maxine she'd thrown a few condom packages at him and given him a stern look.

He couldn't tell if she was amused by his embarrassment or just simply concerned about making sure they were being safe.

Of course when they got back to Five's bunk and he found a box on the usually cleared off side. He wasn't sure if it was Maxine being all knowing or if Five had smuggled some back in a Sports bra.

He honestly wouldn't put it past her.

"Uhm- I know this might be a bad time. But where were you? y'know earlier."

In response to his question. He gets a rather confused look that soon morphs into an almost sad- defensive stare. It doesn't seem she has the heart to share what she's been up to today, but she's welcome to a few secrets. It's not like Sam owns her. No one could own her.

September 13th. Its not exactly a relevant date to him. Five thinks. It is to her. But she's not going to tell him why anytime soon- nor is she too keen to share more details about Anna then what he knows from her letters.

"Ah! You don't have to tell me. It's fine. - I don't have any paper for you to write on anyway.."

Five just nods at him and soon the defensive look is  replaced by warm affection again, Sam lays back on the bed before leaning up to catch her lips chastely. A hand pushes him back down onto the bed and captivated by her he simply watches as she throws a leg over his side, pinning him against the cot. Licking his lips he lets out a soft breath before closing his eyes when her lips seek his out once more. There is no hesitance coming from her.

Just warmth. There is this understanding between them. He called it a sort of Sympatico once. But nowadays he's started to dare calling it something else.

It's hard to love amidst constant tragedy.

But they've managed pretty well all things considering.

Its not until Sam's fallen asleep and has his arms tightly woven around her does Five allow herself to escape into her thoughts. Its not wrong of her to still need to mourn the past. Or of the dead.

September 13th. It's not exactly a date she needs to save anymore.

She's not going to be getting married anytime soon now.
