Social Media v/s Samay v/s Secrecy
The discourse starts with one of his live streams.
It's the first one he's doing after the Still Alive set, and he's enjoying the comment section, feeling like he used to when he started doing streams during the lockdown. Thus, his guard is lowered and he doesn't realise that while he's trying to find a meme that his father sent him, he accidentally shows chat the candid photo of Samay and Rati that his father had sent him a couple of days ago.
Her face isn't visible but it's clear that it's a woman and she's holding his hand and laughing behind her hand and his ears and are flushed and—
He takes down the phone in a few seconds, as soon as he realises it's not the meme he's showing, and curses under his breath even as he blushes anew, remembering the moment.It wasn't the rom-com scene the photo made it out to be.
Samay had needed to go to Manali for a shoot with Rati tagging along as legal support, and then they'd gone to his parents house. His father had insisted they take her on sightseeing and the only thing Samay had backed out of was a paragliding adventure. Rati and his father had teased Samay relentlessly and in this photo, after a good ten minutes of teasing, Rati had been joking trying to drag him away towards the paragliding registration centre.
The chat explodes with questions and teasing remarks and Samay wraps up the stream not long after, promising to do another one soon.
As soon as he's offline, he gets a call from Rati. He picks it up and she's instantly laughing at him.
"They think I'm flirting with you," she laughs, almost wheezing,"Who's gonna tell them you're a coward?"
"Hey!"
His protest goes unheard and she continues laughing until she's well out of breath. "Oh, this is gold," she sighs when she's finally calming down. "You think I can make a collage full of memes that are circulating right now? Can I gift it to you? Average Kashmiri getting coerced?"
Samay snorts,"Meri Maa tumhe apni bahu bana degi turant agar mere ghar mein tumhari photo dikhi toh."
"Banane do," she says, a stray giggle escaping her,"It'd be worth it. Oh, to wake up everyday and watch the photo, knowing you were shit scared behind that smile."
Samay groans,"Can you please propose marriage more tactfully next time? So that I feel included?"
Rati scoffs like it's a far fetched idea. ____________________________________________________
After that, the extremely unemployed part of his audience find out Rati's instagram account.
It gets flooded with comments saying that she's too pretty for him.
Rati actually frames a couple of those comments and puts the frame on Samay's nightstand when she visits him to discuss the details of the contract of his next collaboration.
When it gets out that she was the one who fought his case, his ever loving audience, comments on Samay's post that now Rati deserves a part of land of the moon just because she stuck with him through the shit show that particular year was.
She has a gobsmacked look on her face when he gives her a moon shaped soft toy and a lipgloss that costs much, much more than it should, considering its quantity. He puts the photo on his Instagram story with the caption,"That's all I can afford."
The next time Rati posts a photo on her Instagram, it's of her moving into a new house that seems suspiciously familiar to some of her new followers. One of the photos has a red cheeked Samay holding the moon plushie that has a red lipgloss stain too.

It doesn't matter how much India pretends to be an advanced country, it's filled with hypocrites, apparently some vulgar joke ( I haven't seen the video ) made by a youtuber holds precedence above actual issues like the rape cases, unemployment, murder of journalists. Also need I remind yall that the asshole kid who crashed his Porsche into two students got out by writing just a 300 word essay ? Like bitch I've written more than that for my exams ???
